meeting my fiance's family for thanksgiving, and need a good gift idea for his 7 year old niece...?
I am going to spend Thanksgiving with my fiance's family, and he has a 7 year old niece. What would be a good gift idea for her? I am taking my 5 year old daughter. I am going to bring a few toys and books for her to keep her occupied on the 2 hour trip there. Should i get something they both can play with? or something just for the niece? And any suggestions on gifts would be great.

I wouldnt bring her anything. Its just his neice. I would feel awkward if my sisters boyfriend was to bring my child something. I would just skip that.

Do not go too lavish on the gift because that could be awkward or look like you are really trying to impress in the most obvious way. Whatever you decide make sure it is something your daughter and 7 year old niece will enjoy together.
Play Dough and a mini rolling pin, cut outs, small pie tins, plastic knife will entertain for hours.
Homemade play dough recipe: Traditional Play Dough
* 1 cup flour
* 1 cup warm water
* 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
* 1 teaspoon oil
* 1/4 cup salt
* food coloring
Mix all ingredients, adding food coloring last. Stir over medium heat until smooth. Remove from pan and knead until blended smooth. Place in plastic bag or airtight container when cooled. Will last for a long time. Happy Thanksgiving

I don't have any girls (I have three boys though!) so what if you had your daughter bring her a barbie doll or something? I know they sell the beach barbies for like 5 or 10 dollars. Have a great thanksgiving!
