masking a logo for the web?
How can I mask a logo for the web?
I want to remove the background and just keep the actual image of the logo. I have access to fireworks, illustrator, photoshop etc.
And which file format to I save as??

What file type is it to start with? if it's an eps, ai, pdf or anything vector like that, just copy and paste it into photoshop-select "smart object" if it asks. Keep it 72 dpi and at the size you want it to appear as. Save it as a png.
If it's a tiff, jpeg, psd, etc you'll have to remove the background manually with the eraser tool or magic wand. Make sure to unlock the layer before you clear it so the little gray checkerboard shows up, meaning it is transparent. Same as before, 72 dpi, same size, save as png.
.PNG is the only file type for web that preserves transparency (no background)
