anybody going to be laid off or unemployed or have been laid off or unemployed for the past 12 months?

just want to know how bad of a shape this country is really in, i feel sorry for the young people of this world trying to plan their future and have their whole life ruined, the dreams our parents lived in their lives will not be the same as our lives, so if a parent bashes you why don't you do this and that, it won't come out that way cause they actually lived in a better time

My husband worked for the same company for 23 years and recently accepted a voluntary lay-off. He was a production supervisor. The company has been downsizing for the last two years and two out of their three plants closed down completely. His plant went from having three full shifts to just one. He volunteered for the lay-off so that one of the younger guys with small children could keep his job. My husband will be able to retire next March. Rumor is that the company is closing it's doors in January. The unemployment rate in Pa. is very high and getting worse. Two other companies have closed the doors in the past few months leaving hundreds of people without jobs. My husband is now collecting benefits and is eligible for schooling. Hopefully this will keep us going until March. I feel bad for all the families that have young children to support. There aren't any jobs around here at all. The country is in terrible shape right now. I'm hoping things will soon change for the better.

Laid off last week. I'm in my mid 50's. Do I start over in a new career? Or do I just hit the streets and become an "urban outdoorsman"? Fortunately, unemployment will last until spring, but I have a choice of paying rent, utilities, or food. I can pick two. One gets left out.

Yep, this country is doing great. I'm wondering how long it will take before the National Parks in this country are over run by people going back to the aboriginal ways, hunting, fishing, and gathering nuts and berries to survive.

My dad was recently. He's a bloody 58 year old man and a solicitor. I mean, how does the company he's worked for for 20 years and became a partner in expect him to get another job so well paid a)| so close to christmas and b) when he's only seven years away from retirement! The company should be bloody embarrassed!
