device disabled in device manager?

when a device is disabled in device manager does it also shut it off so it doesn't draw power? In this case its a WinTV 150 Tuner card.

Update:

yes i understand that, but i dont want to have to do this everytime i need to record something on TV or off of my Xbox 360. I would like to disable when not in use because I'm already pushing it running a HD 2400 Pro on a Dell 235W PSU :(

A disabled device can't receive notifications to enter low-power mode, so a disabled device can (in some cases) draw more power than if its left enabled. The board is still given power regardless.

Disabling a device doesn't cut the power on a Windows based system. Linux systems however, can be told to cut the power to an entire slot on-demand with ACPI supported systems.

Hi. I think the only way to assure no power draw is to remove the device.

Tyler, power supplies are not easy to understand. They have about 4 different outputs at different voltages. Normally you vcan overload the USB power supply by adding to much USB stuff. The card bus power would not normally overload. Games and such can overload the power for processing as well. Its all different sections of the power supply.
