  • problems with mirrors edge?

I got mirrors edge today and i was playing through it until i got to the level where you are looking for the wrestler. Its the point right after you chase down jackknife. Right after hopping a fence and then jumped off to a building on your left, the game makes my player slow down to a crawl and wont allow me to jump while walking. It also makes my my mouse sensitivity very low. but when im standing still im able to jump and look around normally. is there a fix for this?? cause i really want to play through this game.

    thx

  • New video card problems?

I bought a Powercolor HD 2400 Pro for my Dell E310. It has done what I wanted which was allow me to play pretty much any game out right now such as Crysis and World in Conflict. However, as my gaming performance has increased drastically, just general use has gone down. Such as when I'm browsing the internet, scrollling down pages will do a refreshing motion downwards (like if you don't have drivers installed). I have tried Chrome, IE, and Firefox and they all do it, with and without smoothscrolling. Its not so bad on pages without much going on, but sites such as youtube, bungie.net, and others are terrible and my cpu usage is thru the roof. I have the latest drivers installed for XP and I have tried reverting the the CD drivers but nothing helps. Any ideas?

  • Question about Powercolor HD 2400 Pro PCI?

I recently bought the Powercolor HD 2400 Pro (PCI) card for my old Dell E310. It works fine and I have been able to play Crysis and whatnot. However, just today I downloaded GPU-z and for some reason it shows my card as running at 445MHz core and 396MHz memory, when it says default is 525MHz core and 400MHz memory which is also what newegg lists it as. Why is my card underclocked and is there a way to fix this? The BIOS is locked so I cannot overclock it to normal settings, but is there a way around that?

    Here is a GPU-z picture...

Also it show's the card as PCIe x1 when its actually just normal PCI.

Is it possible to get a custom songs to work in training, or maybe mod the game to where i can choose to play in the training area instead of live? Plz help and thx.

I used Song List Editor for the modding.

  • graphics card solution?

Is there a way to fit a PCI-E x16 card into a PCI-E x1 slot by modding the card or the slot? I know all the drawbacks of using this in x1 but I just need to know if it will work in x1 if i maybe saw through the wall of the slot to allow the card to fit or just break off some pins from the card to navigate around the slot. It's an inexpinsive HD 2400 Pro that is $30 as PCE-E x16 and $60 as PCI. Also as PCI-E x1 has twice the bandwidth of a PCI slot anyways it will be a much better performer there. So will this work or not? If removing the pins from the card will work its ok its staying in this computer for as long as we keep it and not goin in any other.

  • would either of these batteries work?

My iPod battery got fried, so I'm looking at a new battery for the 5G 30GB. Since both batteries are pretty much the same, would either work in my iPod, or do I have to go with the 30GB one. The 60/80 battery has a bigger capacity which is why i want it.

  • Is this a torn labrum?

I injured my left shoulder in football my freshman year in High School. I continued to play on it because it didn't hurt too bad, I thought I had maybe just strained it. But then I hurt it again and this time when I made contact with someone, my entire left arm fell numb. Even after this I continued to play, but my shoulder was always in pain and was doing weird things. I took ibuprofen for the pain, and now when I would angle my shoulder in a certain way, it would feel as if it slides out of place. It shows up as a bulge on the outside edge, where if you normally put pressure, is right below where the bone of the shoulder is in between the arm and shoulder. When it comes back into place it pops really loud.

I have since quit football and I am in my Junior year now and it seems my shoulder is getting progressively worse. The continuous pain it normally has giving me over the years is increasing dramatically.

What do you think this is?

  • 4 pin molex connector to 3 pin fan connector?

Would it be possible to make your own 4 pin molex to 3 pin cpu converter by wiring them together correctly? Or in the converters is there any resistors that may lower the current that would make it impossible for me to make one myself? If its possible, do you know which wires to put together? I have plenty of copper wire and electrical tape to hold it all together. I know there are converters but this is for something special, so please don't tell me about any converters.

    Thank you very much.

  • ipod may have shorted out, need another opinion?

I have yet to figure out who broke one of the front USB ports on my computer because no one will fess up to it, but without knowing, i plugged my 30GB 5th Gen iPod video into it. This immediately caused my computer to shut down (most likely do to a short), and also my iPod. Now when I turn my iPod on, it gives me a message saying "please wait very low battery".

Do you think that the short may have just damaged the battery? Because I can easily buy a new replacement one for $20 from Newegg, or do you think the entire iPod is toast?

When I managed to get it to come on while plugged into the wall charger, it still played music, videos, and showed photos. I then reformatted with itunes to see if it would fix it and now it won't even stay on long enough to sync everything back to it. Now while being plugged into a wall charger, it is in an endless loop of saying that message, then trying to start up and immediately dying. It does this about ever 10 seconds. Please tell me this can be fixed by simply buying a new battery.

  • Question about card pricing?

Say you find a Graphics card that comes in PCI-Express x16 and PCI. Other than the performance difference, why would the PCI-Express x16 card be at times, up to 1/4th of the price of the PCI card? Do the PCI cards actually cost that much more to make? of is it just a way of entrapping people who can only use PCI graphics cards?

  • get rid of stupid networking program?

One of my family members was trying to set up a bridge and now has made this computer almost unusable. I have managed to fix most of it, but I don't know how to get rid of this windows program that, on start up, makes you sign in for the network, and when u hit (ctrl, alt, del) gives u a menu instead of the task manager. How would I go about getting rid of this??

  • why is this acronym blocked on xbox live?

KSE = Killswitch Engage, which is my favorite band, however it is blocked on Xbox Live and CoD4 Clan Tag. Does this also stand for a something bad, or is it just M$ in their infinite wisdom blocking it for copyright reasons?

  • increase in graphics performance?

How much of an increase will I see going from GMA 915 integrated chipset graphics to an HD 2400 Pro PCI card? I want to be able to do light gaming on my Dell E310 with a 2.8GHz P4 w/ HT.

Before you say anything, PCI is my only choice, so don't say anything about PCI-E or AGP, I realize PCI sucks, but idc.

    Thanks

Why, if you have more than enough space in RAM, does an OS still use the swap file? Wouldn't putting everything in the RAM help with performance?
