Question for those who feed EVO?

I'm doing raw right now but soon I will have to switch to dry food for about 6 months. (Long story...nauesa...raw meat...don't mix)

ANYWAY...From what I've read, most people don't follow the guidelines on the bag because they feel it's too much.

So how much do you think a 70 lb Shepherd and a 45 lb beagle/boxer mix would need per day?

Does anyone know roughly how many cups there are in a 28.6 lb bag?

The instructions on the bag are ALWAYS more than what is needed, to push the consumer to buy more. Rule of thumb is to give whatever the dog will eat in 15-30 minutes, then whenever the dog is done, that is it. Do this twice a day. Just leaving food out all day can lead to them eating just because it is there, and they can become obese. I would say to start with 1 cup for the shepherd and maybe 1/2 cup for the beagle and see how that works out for them. It is usually a constant battle of adding more and taking away until you find the right amount that works for them.

  • Well I can only pass along what my vet told me. My brother's Golden is 110lbs and he should eat 2 1/2 cups of food per day. My Pomeranian is 11lbs and should eat 1/2 cup food per day. My Chihuahua is 4lbs 8oz and he is supposed to get 1/4 - 1/2 cup per day. My baby Chihuahua is 1lb 1oz and she gets about a 1/4 cup per day as well. I know this isn't a huge amount of help but I would guess that your big dog would need 1 1/2 cups and your smaller dog would need 3/4 to 1 cup per day.
