depends on the reason. if the communications blackout is for notifying a loved one of a death, it usually ends as soon as the family;y has been notified in person.. and those are usually within 48 hours. if the blackout is for training or patrol reasons.. could be weeks or months.
I know someone who regularly goes 3 months at a time without hearing from her guy due to his job.

Depending on the reason for the Blackout, it varies. Usually 48-72 hours after the event that caused the blackout.

black out as in something has happened where he is deployed? A blackout (no phone, internet, etc) last at least until the family members of the wounded/deceased are notified by the military.
If it is because of a security issue.... it will last until the issue is resolved or the mission is complete.
It could last from a couple of days.... to months.

stevie is right, it can really depend.... anywhere from just a few hours to over a month... at least in my experience.
if its commo black out because of a death or other serious incident, it depends on how long it takes to notify the family...
try not to worry. and take care.
