Are people really seriously mad at Obama for choosing private school for his children?

I happened to stroll across CNN and saw numerous amounts of posts claiming Obama was not for "change" just because he is sending his kids to private school. I mean obviously there are many things to consider like protection but are these people really serious about this or is it some kind of venting because he won? I mean I find it almost laughable if it wasn't so sad that this is something truly worthy enough to complain about. Are we really this petty as a country?

First he was blamed for high gas prices, then the economy going down the drain (as if he cut all those jobs), no not representing change by electing a few intelligent Clinton people and sending his kids to private school. Next he will be blamed for global warming whats next? Thoughts?

Update:

I mean come on people, is this the best we can present ourselves as a country?

Update 3:

So what your saying is he cant choose private school?

I hate to think so. But I tend to over estimate a lot of people. I don't see why this is even an issue, frankly. Crying 'hypocrisy' is just absurd. First of all, Secret Service probably won't even allow it. But even so, If I was able to afford private school for my son there is NO way that I would send him to public school. They can afford it, they have security issues and there is no good reason they shouldn't. The people that are upset about this are looking for anything to cry 'Foul' and this is just one of many topics they will use.

First you have several different questions here. So the first one is some people not even close to a majority is blaming him for anything. He isn't even president yet. He shares some blame as being a member of congress only in the way the country is today.

Next as far as the private school, this happens every time there are young children in the white house. People said the same about Chelsea. The only modern day white house kid that went to public school was Amy Carter. The public school private school thing is just an example of how our public schools are not good enough for our elected officials children, but they want to have the government run the schools. Obviously they know that privatization of the school system would create better education. So by not putting their kids in public school illustrates the point we need to privatize education. This no democrat is ever for even though private schools are the best system.

Man after reading some of the naked raw evil hatred for Obama and his wife that shows up on this site on a far too regular basis I'm honestly surprised that the Secret Service didn't suggest that the Obama's hire tutors and home school their kids in the safety of the White House.

As a publican I can say if I was him I would the same thing.

It is the best for his kids and for the schools, in general.

You must understand that the secret service must protect these children and in a public school that would not be fair to the other children.

In fact, even the private school will be somewhat disrupted.

Not only does he have to be concerned about the welfare of his daughters, but that of the other children in the school. The Secret Service also has a say is this. Move on people, this is a non issue.

I wouldn't say angry, more disappointed. It's not about change, it's about the fact that the private school system is inherently unfair and it's a general liberal belief to send your children to public school, whatever your financial circumstances because of this.

However, Obama has a point on this one. His children are now targets and he has to protect them; if this is the way he feels they will be most safe, then so be it. And he is perfectly capable of still driving for improvements to public education while his children are educatedly privately.

What parent of any political persuasion could in good conscience send their kids to a DC Public School?

  • 1 decade ago

    It is a broader mentality.

MANY people are so against Obama, that they would like to see him impeached for using the "wrong" brand of toilet paper.

the country has a serious mindset problem that is going to make it more difficult for him to do anything. And I honestly believe the largest part is nothing more than racism.

What baffles me is that they don't seem to realize the intense security these kids need and going to public school would be very dangerous for them. There are lunatics out there. All Presidents children have gone to private schools. They have to.

People are just trying to find anything they can on him.

Obama will need more security than any president before him, because of right wing wackos. His children will need just as much.

This school is used to the security. Would these people want their children to attend the same public school as Obama's daughters?

I know I would be scared to death.
