How to get my dog back to eating properly?

I have 2 dogs - one is 1yr, the other is 7mths. In the last few weeks the older one has stopped eating properly. The food is the same as it has been. We can't leave it down for any length of time as the younger one would eat it. It is mainly a problem at breakfast - we have tried adding in a bit of wet to the dry, chicken etc, but he is just not interested. He will eat it fine from a kong / treat ball if he hasn't realised that is what it is. We don't give treats during the day now either. He is fine in every other way - seems like stubborness, but how do we deal with it?

Give it to him in another room by himself. If he hasn't eaten in 15 minutes take it away. It is a rebellion about the other dog. The worst thing you can do is add other food to it. I went through this with my dogs. Now if they don't eat they don't and then they will chow down the next day. As soon as they realised it was gone and that was it for the day they make sure to eat it when they get it! But your dog may be showing submissiveness to your younger dog by not eating so give him his own space to eat.

I had the same problem and it was at breakfast time. I started letting the younger dog out onto the deck and would play with the older dog for a minute or two and then put his food down. Sometimes he eats it and sometimes he doesn`t. If he eats it, I praise him and if he doesn`t, I just put it away until later. Then I let the younger dog in and feed him.

try taking him to a vet or hes probably eating his own poop if you havent taught him not to.. some dogs do that and then refuse to eat
