I have a simple question about Yahoo Answers.?
What is the difference between a contact and a fan on this site? What do the titles mean? I already know that the term fan is short for fanatic so please don't give me anything based on semantics. Thank you in advance for taking your time to read and answer my query. Peace.

Contacts and fans both can see all of your Q&As even if you have them privatized. Fans are people who have added you to their network. If you add them to your network, too, they become a contact and are alterted when you post something and they can answer up. You're alterted to their posts, too.

A contact is someone who YOU add after they have asked to be a contact, they see your answers etc. if you go private on the site.
A fan is someone who adds YOU as a contact
