Is it normal that I'm scared of being bombed every time a plane flies over our house?

Every time a plane flies over our house, fear just overcomes my entire body. I get so scared that one of the planes is going to drop bombs on Norman, Oklahoma, where I live. Am I crazy? I got so scared that when I heard a train today in the distance that I thought it was a siren. It was right after I again had gotten scared from a plane. It seems like more and more are flying over during the night lately. We don't live far from a small airport, but I still get scared knowing that the planes are probably heading there. What should/can I do to lower my fear?

No, it is not normal to feel that way. You don't live in WWII Europe, and even though the terror levels are high, and there are revised regulations for public travel, there isn't an immediate threat to you. You have a better chance of tripping and falling on your face on the floor in your own home than you do of being bombed. You have a heightened sense of paranoia, and you need to see a therapist to discover the root cause(s) and deal with them. Not to be daft, but there is a movie called "What About Bob?" that addresses this issue. It is a comedy, so rest assured there is no pressure, but, it shows how facing your fears, once you know what they are, will help you overcome them and then you can lead a life free from paranoia.

You suffer from an irrational fear. Notice how many good things come from those times when you didn’t have the time to think about airplanes overhead, but instead reacted out of necessity. Tell yourself that the way you are thinking is not real and everything will be OK. It is very difficult to overcome irrational fears sometimes. You could seek professional help if nothing else is working.

not crazy, but more effected than most by such a low probability event.

you reactions are typical of a person with PTSD, yet it doesn't sound like your experiences have been that traumatic. a therapist might be able to help. So would a statistician, to give you examples of what things are more likely.

i would understand the percentages of that happening are ssooo low, like very low haha. seriously, dont fret.and this is gonna sound kinda bad, but if someone was to do something like that it wouldnt be in oklahoma, itd be in a large city. also, it is basically, well is really, impossible to pull that off now with the security level at airports.dont worry, your gonna be fine :)
