Yes! The old ones from 1776 to 1976 are made of silver. For salvage only the silver is worth roughly 7 times face value. But for collectors they are worth a LOT more.

Source(s): Take them to a coin shop for prices. For example on Yahoo shopping a Morgan Silver dollar can be worth up to $49 each.

Based on the current rates of inflation a $1 coin is worth approximately 32 cents.

some of the older ones are and you are referring to Morgan Dollars, it depends on the minatory that made the coin because some minters made less of certain years than others, I had one that was worth $25 from like 1865 but the same year coin from a diff rent minter was Worth $3000, the minter can be found by a small letter on the bottom of the front of the coin.

they are simply worth one dollar.. and nothing more... just instead of paper they are a coin. Coin collectors probably think their worth more because their part of a collection. Everything in a collection is usually treasured.

yes. $1 and $0.50, respectively. There is no collector's value unless they are made of silver or are some special issue.
