Has your child watched the Elmo deployment movie?

If so, how did they react to it? My 3 yr old watched it and it seemed like it hurt more than it helped, she is sad that her daddy is gone, but it almost seemed like watching the movie made her feel worse. Did anyone elses child experience this? Or maybe its just setting in that hes going to be gone for a long time. (he left about a month and a half ago)

I watched it online with my 2 year old son. He loves Elmo and its all he ever talks about or wants to play with. My husband is deployed right now, and the first thing he said was Daddy when he saw the uniforms. I think it was a nice try, but my son wasn't interested. Yes he's young but usually I can put Sesame Street on and have an hour to get things done...this show didn't hold his attention. A friend of mine has a 4 year old, she said her daughter didn't care for it much either. I'm glad they have something like that for little kids, but usually the easiest thing to tell them is Daddy is at work.

nope, and to be honest a cartoon isnt going to help a kid...just like barney was popular when my son was little..him getting a fake shot by a fake needle didnt come into play when my son went to get a shot..you just have to help your own child...let her speak to her dad when she can, let her draw him pictures etc..have him write her notes and mail them with her name on them..etc...
