marijuana VS alcohol?

If I could, I would switch the legal status on the two. Marijuana is much safer than alcohol, in many ways, and the whole world would be a totally different place. Alcohol causes people to be angry, marijuana causes people to be relaxed. I'd be willing to put up with whatever legalization brings along with it. And to the user above, how often do we see drunk cops and drunk EMTs? It's not going to change much since so many people smoke it anyways, all that it will do is allow people to smoke it along with the cigarette smokers and not have to worry about having to hide in fear of getting into trouble with the law. If they just treated it similarly to cigarettes then I see no problem...meaning as long as its still no smoking in public places, 9 m away from buildings, etc. 19+... Okay good luck hopefully I brought up some good points. I don't think most americans would be willing to exchange the status though... everybody just loves drinking way too friggin much, I hate it... I quit drinking years ago.

You can't really divide them because a lot of smokers drink too.

Marijuana would be legal and regulated like alcohol if our government wasn't so greedy. They believe they couldn't make enough money from taxes because people would grow their own. I guess they ignore the fact that people can grow their own food but still shop at the grocery store. I just don't get it.

No. Too much false propaganda is widely believed about marijuana. People are indoctrinated to believe all illegal drugs are illegal because it is for the greater good of the common man. This is not true. Marijuana is kept illegal mostly due to monetary benefit for the government (how many harmless pot smokers are filling up our jails and paying huge fines?)

Also, a lot of people drink, and they would not want to give up their alcohol. They may be in denial about how heavy drinking affects them, but alcohol should not be outlawed either. It would just be another Prohibition/Al Capone situation.

I think that pot should be legal and alcohol be illegal. I mean how often do you hear about someone getting stoned and going out a shooting someone because they are so out of their mind? Or how often do you hear about someone killing a family because they could'nt stay on the right side of the road cause they were so high? It's not as bad for you as alcohol and not as addictive, its a more mental addiction then physical. Pot makes most people happy, alcohol has a tendency to make people angry and do stupid things

yes as a daily weed smoker since 14,and a non drinker i would love to see weed legel.a high driver is safer than a drunk one, ive never been so high i get false pride and started a fight i cant win,and i never got a high hangover, so yes weed for life!

I would prefer that my surgeon be free of alcohol and drugs to include marijuana. I would not be willing to change the status. I would hate to see a stoned cop, or EMT driver.

ALL drugs that dull your natural senses and make your reflexes slow, should be illegal - alcohol included. Neither one (alcohol or pot) is "better" under the same circumstances.

i think they are equally horrible substances... i wouldn't change the status... just because one is safer doesn't make it better... i know people who have done both and it has messed up their lives equally

well.... the effects are different and i would say alcohol is kinda better then weed not saying its safer just better =D
