I've had mine for 13months. I only know this because it's recently broken and i've had to look up the warranty but...
I don't know i think that's my fault really...
They are really good. To be fair if your going to spend that much on an mp3 player i wouldn't go and get the 8GB when for i don't know £40?£50? more you can get the 16GB and hold twice as many songs/videos. And you won't regret it when your boyfriend finds that he can't fit ALL his music on it 6months down the line.
The new ones have built in speakers and i've heard them, they're really good quality, even when you don't expect them to be as they're so small.
It's easy to find your way around music on it, the apps are really good especially if you have wireless internet, I can be in McDonald's and go on the internet and check my myspace really easily. The only downer is that you havent got the phone in it. Everyone always asks if it's an iPhone, and tbh it's quite annoying that if you spent more money you could have a phone built into the same device, because at the moment i have to carry my ipod AND my phone around in my pockets. its annoying -.-
It's basicly a really good iPod but you are paying most of the money out for the flashy touchscreen and the way it looks, but to be honest ITS WORTH IT!

iPod touch is a very nice gift, but the price is comparable to an iPhone. Features like Wi-Fi and games make it an awsome thing to have, as well as downloadable applications so that you can pick and choose what will make your iPod touch or iPhone the most useful tool for you. however, if he's willing to shell out the money to AT&T to get Cell-phone service on the iPhone, it's better, but it's certainly a useful, pretty gadget to have regardless of phone capabilities.
people won't stop asking him if it's an iPhone, though, and he'll have to answer them everytime that it's an iTouch... and then they act all disappointed like it's so much less than an iPhone.

You have a botfriend?? O.k
Well the ipod touch is great but i wouldn't give it as a gift cause it's way too expensive.

When my ipod died, i bought the touch. But honestly, I hated the thing. All i wanted to do was listen to music, and there was all this other stuff. the happiest day of my life was when i dropped it in a puddle and it stopped functioning. :-p but really, if he just wants to listen to music, not the touch. If you're near wifi alot, and musics cool but you want something a little extra, the touch is perfect!

I agree with the girl on the second answer... but i dont get asked about my iphone too much.. so, dunno what thats about...
I would get most deff. give him the option of an iphone vs the touch...
cuz when he opens the box he'll be like "OMG!! AN I....touch"

It depends really if he likes a lot of memory, or features.
iTouch - features, but not a lot of memory
