does this publisher need a model release?
i'm wondering if this publisher of this calendar needs a model release? they run a news magazine but sell this calendar commercially.

news magazines and websites typically don't need a release if it's editorial - the question is really if the calendar is considered editorial?

If the photographer works for the publisher, they need a release to sell the images. If they bought the pictures from a photographer, he needs the release. If the photos were given to the publisher by the people in them, they should have signed a release at that time.
