We have a prelit Christmas tree that the light have died out on. What can I do to fix this?

At a craft warehouse we've seen this thing that's sorta shaped like a glue gun that fixes xmas tree light somehow.

Have you heard of this? does it work?

Thank you!!

Yes it does work. I have the one with the light/fuse tester in it. You can also plug the tester into one of the bulb sockets on the strand that is not lit and pull the trigger a number of times. This will make the defective bulb in the strand have continuity and the strand will come back on and the defictive bulb will be the one that will be unlite. Now this works most of the time. For the times it does not work and you have a sectional prelit tree, I would suggest you get alot of spare bulbs and patience and start tracing.

If it is a sectional tree then only plug in the section that has the lights that don't light. It will keep you from going crazy looking at all those lights up close.

Check the plug to see if it has a fuse. Some do some don't. Examine the bulbs to see if they are all plugged in well and that there are none missing. Sometimes if one gets pulled out partially or all the way it will cause the others to not light. You can get the tester/repairer you mentioned and find a bad bulb quicker but you can go through one by one and take out the bulb and try one you know is good, if it works fine if not put the original back in and go to the next one. If two or more are messes up you may not be able to figure it out without the tester.

    Prelit Christmas

If the tree uses older-type model Christmas lights, if just one of the bulbs burns out, the entire thing doesn't work. If you really want to keep those lights, you're going to have to do some serious trial and error to find that one bulb that makes the connection not work. I'd suggest just buying new lights.

If you see something in the craft warehouse that you think might work, give it a shot! No hurt in trying.

Yes I bought one from ACE hardware last year, I know exactly what you mean. It is a total pain, but it is better than throwing out your expensive tree! It does work, but it is a bit of a challenge. But then again, I am not so great with tools and technology. Maybe it is easier for you than for me.

never seen this if you have papers to the tree sometimes it is one lit that is messedu p if it is just put a new bulb in and if its thte entire one put lights o n and take the old ones out.

Do you have one xmas light that is broken? If one is broken, it usually kills the whole line. Try fixing the one that's broken if you've got.
