Hello citizens of the United Kingdom!?

Do you feel that the United States of America is more an ally to the U.K. "to place in a friendly association, as by treaty" or a friend "a patron or supporter". From much of what I've read on Y/A, I'm rather curious.

I would say that from my own personal experience from living in the U.S. and being an American, that most Americans would consider the citizens of the U.K a friend, and hence an ally as well. Perhaps that is the case across the pond, perhaps not. Please indulge me if you will. Thank you for all of your answers.

Update:

I understand that the Welsh, Scotish, English, and Northern Irish are all different, but for the sake of this question, I lumped you all together. Just for this question, perhaps you can give me a pass.

America is an ally of Britain because we have similar political goals and we both speak English which I guess helps but to go as far as to say we are "friends", I don't know. A lot of Brits are embarrassed to be associated with America because of the fool you've had as President. The general feeling now though is that we like your new President and things will change.

A lot of people just don't like Americans in general, for numerous reasons. Many think you're loud and brash and have no shame.

On Y!A there are equal number of trolls so don't worry about it. Don't let a few bad apples who have shown ignorance towards your country let you think we all share the same bigoted views.

I've noticed many Americans belittling my country and my people and thought to myself what is the point of supporting America, being allies when it's obvious the Americans couldn't care less for us. But then i actually used my brain and i don't hold that to be the attitude of all Americans and feel our "special relationship" is as important now as it was when it was first formed.

Ignore the trolls and the rants and join me in raising a glass to the continued relationship between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the federal constitutional republic of the United States of America.

Well usually we can class America as a Ally because its countries agreeing to a common goal (obviously depending on the goal) however a few of us that have met an American can usually class them as a friend. An ally here generally mean that you are doing something together while yes you do that with your friends as well but you usually have to know the person to know what you are getting yourself into.

Does any of that make sense?

    Hi Az,

I am from England. Yes, we do feel close to you politically but most people feel it was a mistake to support you in the Iraq war.

I think perhaps the consequences would have been far worse if we had not done but the war itself was needless.

George Bush has a lot to answer for but I am sure that the 'special' relationship will survive him.

Citizenship isn't nationality. you're saying which you have been all born in Pakistan as a result you're Pakistan nationality you're all US electorate considering which you reside interior the U. S. and have been granted Citizenship What you're asking is via the fact your father has the two uk and USoA citizenship and as you have gained your US citizenship by your father being granted US citizenship, is there any risk which you will declare uk citizenship on the capability that your father has held citizenship there for 30+ years. i'm a twin national, I genuinely have 2 Passports. I genuinely have a passport for brand spanking new Zealand the place i grow to be born. I genuinely have a uk passport and that i utilized for and grow to be issued that in1977. i will stay and artwork with out permit or quandary and am entitled to a pension from the two. international places I utilized for the British passport by way of fact my father and his mothers and fathers have been British and that i grow to be entitled to have the two passports. you have a Pakistan nationality and as a result you're able to desire to have a passport from that u . s . a .. you are able to practice for citizenship interior the united kingdom to the British Embassy interior the rustic which you reside in. although, i think that by way of fact your father is barely holding citizenship and that grow to be probable granted to him 35+ years in the past while he lived and labored interior the united kingdom that the only way which you would be granted uk citizenship is that if your father returns to the united kingdom, takes up place of abode there and takes you all that prefer to flow to the united kingdom with him. merely like probable befell once you have been granted citizenship interior the united states of a Or, you're able to desire to easily pop over there for a holiday and wander off. Its taking place each and all the time there. in case you wander off for long sufficient then you certainly merely may be able to take delivery of citizenship while and in case you're stumbled on Ask on the immigration workplace for each and all the papers which you require to coach for the suited to stay and artwork interior the united kingdom i assume that your age is 30+. stepping right into a rustic you're able to desire to have a role to flow to, a role that's unlikely to deprive an already modern-day resident interior the united kingdom of his livelihood, sufficient money to help your self and or family contributors there. the two or all of those issues and greater. Hmmmmm......hop on a boat or airplane, decide for a holiday and advance amnesia

For me personally, it seems like the UK is trying too hard to be 'America's best friend' and the 'special relationship' we have is total rubbish. Basically, the US says, jump and we say, how high?
