Athiests and the religious, if science proved you wrong, how would you react?
Just a question for you, not an attack on either side. If somehow science was able to prove that God did exist, how would those of you that are atheists respond.
Conversely, for those of you that are religious, if somehow (theoretically) we were able to prove that God did not exist, or that a different god than the one you worship exists, what would your reaction be?
I have thought about this, and I'm just not sure how I would actually respond. Personally, I am agnostic, and wonder how someone proving a God exists would change me.
Actually Ex pro, this has nothing to do with the double truth theory of Brabant. You should look that one up again. This question had nothing to do with proving a side right, or rationalizing its existence even in the face of contradictory evidence.
It was simply a question as to what people would do if their beliefs were fundamentally challenged. I was honestly hoping to get some more answers from religious people, to be honest.

If god rang my doorbell, and I`m talking like "God", 100% for sure god, trust me, I would start believing.

If someone proved in a repeatable experiment that God was indeed present and also acting to influence the cause of events here on earth of course I would believe.
No one can catergorically say God doesnt exist, I just think there is just such a low probability its not worth considering or having it affect my every day life

If science definitively proved the existence of god(s), then I would no longer be an atheist, obviously. I would be a theist.
However, recognizing the existence of god(s) doesn't necessarily mean that one religion is more right then the other, and it doesn't they created anything, love anyone, etc. So I would admit their existence- but that doesn't mean I'd worship them.

You are reviving a form of thought that the West in general repudiated centuries ago, everybody, atheists and theists, namely the Theory of the Double Truth.
Fact is, there is one truth and the mind attains to Truth in the same way all the time. Once you've attained to truth in something you might understand it better etc. but attainment is attainment. 2+2 = 4 is not subject to certain revisions.
Me I'm a believer, a convert.

I'm not trying to annoy anyone or preach or be pushy or judgemental but they'd deny it and ask for more trials and if it still was proved, they'd deny some more and then on and on and on.
Source(s): My friend is into judiasm and I don't preach to her or talk about it but she's always saying stuff like there's no proof and all that. - Anonymous1 decade ago
as an atheist, if god ever came down from on high, i would be very happy to make his/her/its acquaintance.

it can't
the next step will have to exclude science to attempt to eradicate christianity
