Can my daughter be taken away for being sick and missing school?

I have a 10 year old daughter, she missed 18 days of school, all of which were excused by her doctor except for 3...she had a broken foot and a contagious virus. We have Er visits, dr. notes ect......

Today we got a letter from children and youth saying they can take her for missing so much time. Can they do that?

Call the school and get some help if your daughter is getting behind because of the time missed. As long as you have doctor's excuses and she is missing for legitimate reasons, no one can do that. Most of those letters are automatic to parent's of students who have missed many days of school. Don't worry.

I would ask to see the law on that one I doubt THEY could take your child but they may know someone who legally could. Children missing school excessively often but not always indicates the possibility that there may be an underlying problem within the home that contributes to her absenteism. They might also be operating under the idea that doctor's notes can be forged. At worst they may think you are not good parents, maybe a little neglect on your part. I assume you are on the up and up and you dont keep your child locked in chains in the basement. If you can afford it you might consider private tutoring or a private school. Only a judge can take your child.

No. as long as you have a doctor's note for missing days then your ine. And i think the rule is if you miss over 20 days then a doctors note is necessary.

The state won't take you away out of your mothers and fathers for lacking college in case you're ill. Truancy rules are for little ones who omit college for no reason and it incredibly is permitted by ability of the mothers and fathers. the little ones are taken away because of the fact of negligence of the mothers and fathers. notwithstanding, in case you have ignored sixteen days for being ill already, have you ever been to a doctor?

No, just get a doctors note and give it to the school.

wow i dont think they can do that if you have doctors notes!!

You should go up to the school in person and speak to them about the situation, bring the lettter you got in the mail to show them.

    I hope everything goes well!

Don't waste your money on a lawyer. All you really need is interaction with the school. As long as they feel like they are in control of the situation they'll leave you alone.

    noo..?

if she were older she would get a truency ticket.

but since shes 10, and it was excused, she'll be fine.

just really behind on her work.
