The Helio Sequence. Very catchy, well written songs, kinda indie if you're looking for a label. Murder By Death. Different. That's all I can really say. Kind of a cabaret sound to them...which brings me to...... The Dresden Dolls. Piano, feminine angst, "big words" and deep concepts to trivial and spiteful lyrics. Fun fun fun. Definitely not metal, but as a former hardcore metalhead I still appreciate all of the above. Hope you check them out and enjoy. For the sake of contributing a harder-edge: Otep. Feminine fury, pure and simple. Nothingface. Raucous but full of hooks and decent melodies. eta: don't mean to be redundant, but I realize that "chick singers" can be a deal breaker for some. Makes no sense to me, but more often than not, I feel that I've had to defend a band I like simply because it's female-fronted. Those listed are not exactly girl power music, much less "grrrrl power," it's just a disclaimer for those less open-minded.
