Still Bored #7. Crates!!!!!!!!!!!!?

How many crates do you own??

Do you have a favorite brand??

Do you COLLECT them..as my husband think I do????

I have NO idea how many we have. If I see a good one at a garage sale, I have to buy it. You never know when you night need one!

My favorite one has curved corners, and opens on top and also has a smaller door in the front door. Nicer pan than most too.

Update:

There is no need to count!!! Al least you know you have them when you need them!!!!!!! I know I have at least 12...and currently 4 dogs. But you never know!!!!!!

Update 2:

I have actually found some metal pans at garage sales!!!!! LOVE them too!!!! The plastic ones SUCK and I would love to replace all my plastic ones with metal!!!

    Um....I've lost count (blushes).

I have all types and sizes.

I'm now listening to "Alice's Restaurant".

When I moved a few years ago I gave 23 crates away. I had *2* wire crates when I arrived in the Seattle area 2 years ago. Now, I have 9 wire ones and 4 fabric ones. We're on the lookout for more "giant" crates as Lou only fits in those.

I'm not picky about brand, functional works. I get REALLY jazzed though when I find one of the old Kennelaire ones with the metal pan at a garage sale. My dogs crack the plastic pans :o(

This summer I had a yard sale and sold 2 small plastic crates, 1 large plastic crate, 2 small wire crates and 3 medium wire crates. My husband was complaining that I had too many and they take up too much room, I argued and lost but I still have 6 wire crates and 3 soft sided.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!

    I have 6 crates, and 3 dogs..

My fave is the giant black wired, open on all sides, top opens, has door on front and side also....I get them at Pets Mart, no where else, and the pans are not the flimsy ones, they last forever.

I use 2 large ones the back of the SUV when I do rescues..they are extra roomy even for the largest breeds...

    Happy Thanksgiving

I have a lot of left-over Sheltie size wire crates. And a couple of different sizes Vari-kennels..and a BC size soft crate. Truly, I haven't a clue how many I have!

I now have 1 Border Collie.

Well, the thing is: in warm weather the wire crates offer more air flow, and nice to put a wet dog in after you wash them to shake and drip dry before you start grooming. The VariKennels offer a more den-like retreat, need if you are going to ship, and in cold weather keep them cozier. But the soft crates sure are lighter to drag to shows.

And, of course, there are the 3 x-pens I have too......

  • we have 3 crates. I don't have a favorite brand. I got 2 of them at Petsmart. the first one I got for my dog Roxie who died in 05 and then I let Dakota have that one and then after I got Due we got a big one for him and then when we got my mom's dog her crate came with her.

Duke's crate has 2 doors which I like because you can face it in a different direction you can open it that way. His came with a thing you could separate it in to 2 or make smaller but I didn't so he could have room!

I have two crates, I use them for potty training and when I am done potty training, I break them down and store them. I have a carrier for going to the v-e-t, The Titans are spanking the Lions like a 5-year-old at Kmart, just in case you are not watching the game.

If you count wire crates/kennels too, then I have 3. For one dog. Sigh.

A plastic one for travel, a wire one here for everyday, and a wire one at my parent's house, for when Kip is there.

And if I ever enter an agility trial, I'll either need a soft-sided one, or an x-pen.
