would you be offended with a "recycled" xmas gift?
I am trying to teach my step daughter the real meaning of xmas by taking her to the local salvation army thrift shop to buy gifts for her friends. She discovered all these cool items that are almost new and some are new still in the boxes. We are doing a recycling christmas, which means we buy a recycled gift and a new gift for our friends. She got to pick out some recycled gifts for her aunts and cousins. She was totally into it. My brother in law seemed a little odd about the idea of a recycled xmas present, so I thought I would ask the forum here.

Nah, some of the best stuff is recycled stuff, cool glasses with a retro pattern, and the best about it is those objects were loved!

I wouldn't be offended - it's the thought that counts and your right by teaching her the true meaning of Christmas.
I think that what your doing is really good if you mean recycled such as recyled paper - good for the enviroment and from the chairty shop - helps a good cause.
It's also helping you because of the credit crunch.

Absolutely not! In fact, I am offended when someone pays for a new gift when there is a perfectly good 'recycled' version.

Depends, You are doing it for a good cause and have no intentions on being stingy and forgetting the meaning of giving so its fine. Our economy is terrible and people are broke everywhere so no one expects much this year. Have fun with it!

Personally I would not be offended cuz I'm know what Christmas is about. It's not about the gift. However, the materialistic person would be pissed.
