Catahoula Leopards are come in a variety of different coat colors from solids to merles, double merles, and patchwork msot are smooth coated. They do shed a lot. They definitely need daily exercise at least an hour a day. I've heard that many do not like swimming when they are an adult and prefer mud puddles...but mine still loves to swim. They love to please their owners and are known to be wary of strangers and some pets.

For some reason, this sounds like Sampson, my Chow Chow mix, except Sampson loves people. But don't think that it is a Chow that you are describing.

    Siberian Husky?

    Collie?

If so they don't do well in heat so I don't think that's it.
