Absolutely. There has been much research on music's effect on mood states. Just listening to music has been shown to improve mood in healthy subjects and in people with various medical and psychiatric conditions. Most people can attest to this from personal experience. For more information try entering the words "music therapy" and "mood" into an academic search engine.

A lot of the happy songs I listen to just annoy me or don't affect my mood. But I find that sad songs upset me. For some reason "Demolition Lovers" by my chem and "Rough Hands" by alexisonfire will pretty much always make me cry.

And if I listen to hardcore or really heavy songs I find that it does actually aggravate me more and makes me snap at people really easily. Which probably means that I should stop listening to heavy music but oh well haha

    Yes.

When I listened to screamo/punk/alternative I felt angry.

I turned to the darker, more depressing music, I felt depressed.

Now I listen to Kpop, typically the rap and hip hop kind of songs and that makes me feel awesome and ready to take on the world.

Most of the Kpop I listen to is upbeat unless I'm trying to get to sleep, but that makes me happy, and my family has to deal with me dancing around the house and singing Korean at the top of my lungs, but really they just want me to be happy.

yes, music is a language, it can depress you, irritate you, relax you, make you feel energetic, cause you to fall in love, cry, soothes a baby

It also helps you get through some difficult time and to really enjoy the good times even more!

Yeah, if I turn up my angriest music as loud as possible, it can stop me from crying, and sometimes even put me in a good mood.

Bjork's music actually gives me head aches, and some music makes me literally fell dizzy and sick.
