What brand furniture would be the best investment for a living room?
We are hoping to make a last time investment in a quality brand furniture that can stand the test of time with everything from babies, teens and three very playful dogs. We are thinking a quality leather would be our best choice and since this will be furniture that will need to last for our senior years, we were hoping that someone could suggest a reasonable yet study plus comfortable brand. We don't need the top of the line but something that that can do the job for years to come. All suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you!
5 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling10 years agoA type of flooring that would help with both durability and warmth?
We have a nice family room but with nothing underneath but 3 feet of crawl space which makes the room and floor cold in the winter months. I have read that quality bamboo or cork is not only durable but reduces noise and keep the cold out. We are hopeful that we are making the right choices and would appreciate any advice from thoses who understand the process of DIY. I should add that there are young babies, children and healthy playful dogs using this space with us. All advise is greately appreciated - thanks in advance!
4 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)10 years agoHow to uninstall Total Security?
I use a Norton Virus 360 and I have been very happy with this new version. However, I turned it off to do some work and soon after that, I started getting emergency messages that I had all these virus. I turned on my Norton to find out that I do not have any of these problems but noticed that some pop ups happened. Now I want to get rid of this security and from my control panel and it won't allow me to remove or change.
Your help appreciated and thank you in advance
8 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoWhat is happening to our countries food !?
I live in southern Ontario Ca, and it is the most rich and beautiful part of Ontario for farmland, we have rich black soil and we grow crops from apples, peaches, potatoes and just about everything you need to eat healthy and nutritionist balanced meals.
I am not a farmer but I have enjoyed eating well at the corners fruit stands and have been able to feed the family with healthy low cost foods. This is all about to change now as the farmers can not compete against the free trade
Now I go to the farm stands and question them why they are leaving the fruits on the trees (peaches) bumper crop this year and delicious! product being left in the field just to name a few.
I go to another farmer and ask why his product is still in the fields to be pl owed under?
I watch on the news that these farmers can not complete with the free trade our government is imposing on us instead I am forced to go to grocery stores and buy smelly, flavourless outrages high cost produce and fruits that have travelled for weeks in the bottom of ships (which by the way is ruining our oceans and waters) when I get the product home, I find it is musty, rotten inside, and not fit to eat and has to be thrown out or taken back.
I am appalled at how the system works and I ask why are we allowing the governments to force us into something that is not only unhealthy, but costly and putting our farmers out of work and losing their farms.
Does this make any sense to anyone and why are we allowing this to happen right under our noses
I have nothing against free trade but let us be reasonable, why are we being forced to buy foods that are extremely costly and in poor value when we have the best right here in our own country?
Do we really need more black cement and pavement for parking lots instead of rich farmlands for crops? Are we really just fools being lead by the governments who's only interest is greed of money?
Are we willing to sit back and just accept what they are throwing us What are the changes we need to take, how do we tell the government that we are canadians and we choose to eat what we grow and refuse to eat what they are stuffing down our throats. How can we change these outrages acts and demand that the government to be more supportive of the canadian farmer and businesses.
Who runs our governments anyhow and why do we sit back instead of banding together to support our own country.
Come on canadians, we need to stand up and take action in demanding that we have some say in what we wear, eat and drink!
I am happy to buy the things that we don't have in our country, but I don't understand why I need to buy and pay extra for to what I need to throw out, not to mention what makes us ill with all the preservatives to make the long trips.
It may cost a little more now to help support our farmers, but in the long run, we are eating fresh from the fields to the tables.
What is your take on this problem and how can we keep what is ours, ours?

thank you for the spelling correction, however, you totally missed my point. I am saying that our crops are not in our stores period. I would gladly pay extra to eat the foods grown in right here in Canada, but I would like that chance
I also do not need a lesson on how the food gets from China, Asia and so many of the other countries. I am also aware that free trade is good to some degree, but I am not sure that most people really know what is going on, I put the question out there for common-sense people to address the delemia and to become more aware, it is not an arguement that I am asking for, just give us the right to buy our products and keep what is good and working, working! The age old arguement of free trade will always be an on going thing, but again, why do we need to buy goods that are simply superior to what is sold on the shelves, perhaps you don't care one way or another, however, I am sure that most common-sensed people once enlighted would surely opt to eat fresh!

ty all for ur answers, I received a lot of good answers, however I fear I may not have been as clear as I should have been. I am aware that some of us are forunate enought to grow our small gardens and even some who are not apartment and small home owner can not go to our local grocery stores and buy fresh oppose to buying from counties which transport inferior foods and cost so much more. I am happy to buy mangos and such that we do not produce here, yet I must buy fruits and vegetables that the farmers are not capable of shipping as per the high expense. I do not see the point in buying our own products from such as China which is laballed Canadian and needs to make the trip back home.
We as canadian, need to consider this outrages and consider our health important enough to demand that if we grow it here, lets sell it here. After that, we can sell our extras as export. I am sure the all would benifit, I no longer wish to buy

5 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoResponsible parents, what age do you let your teenager start dating?
My niece just turns 13 and she now has been given the green light to go to dances, shows and the malls with her friends and I think this is ok in groups. My concern is the kids are talking things a little further than what the parents may think.
My niece does not want to talk to her mother as they are not comfortable when it comes to sex, so I being the second village mother, she comes to me for advice. I am noticing now that she is beginning to advoid me and is getting a little sneaky. She has just turned 13 and has had her first kiss, now they are practising the french kissing and she thinks she is soooo in love with this boy. Everything is about how much she loves him and wants to spend all her time with him.
My sister wants her daughter to have lots of friends and not feel left out when it comes to friends and boys.
My niece has always been good with both and has always had boy friends she called buddies and played sports with them. I am needing some expert advise as I don't want her to get in trouble or fall behind in her school work
Also she has girlfriend who is coaching her how to do things with this boy and I am not sure how far she is going to take things, She thinks she is worldy and her and her mom don't get along.
Your advise is greatly appreciated and needed before I talk to my sister about all of this, ty

2 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoteeth and gum pain radiating from my teeth, gums and so much pain?
I broke half my tooth off and the dentist put a needle into the upper side of the month to numb the area and put a temporary in while we wait for my insurance to decide what to pay on the replacement
I can still feel the area of where the needle went inside the roof of my mouth, feels like all my gums are infected along with my teeth
I am using orajel to numb the pain until I can get to see the dentist again, anyone with a home remedy to help ease the pain and burning, please help, what could this be from, I notice that the jel only works for like a few minutes and the stuff makes me feel sick and the whole side of my face is is great pain up and into my ear and then a horrible headache, could it be the exposed metal of black filling that is showing below the other tooth work in the pass or what about a dry socket , thanks
2 AnswersDental1 decade agoWhat do you do when you were caught stealing and charged?
I would like to help this person but I have no idea how the law works. Is this a civil offense or a criminal offense. I think this action was caused by extreme stress and am told this was the first offense
Will the person need to have finger printing done
Why would someone who has everything in their lives, get so stressed out that they would go out and be so obvious about stealing just to get caught but they are now sorry
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhen do I put my dog to sleep for good?
My girl has been diagnose with a anal cancer and it has gone from a small lump to the size of a orange
For those who don't know this, let me tell you that this cancer grows very quickly and once they have it, it is not successfully operated on when found later as opposed to sooner
Your best chances of saving you pet is to buy pet insurance
Have a annual done regularly and someone who knows how to examine the anal glands regularly but not to squeeze them as this can cause more problems than solving them
Now I do know that animals like to go away and die alone, but since my girl can not do this, has anyone out there gone through this and knows when to put the pet down before they begin to suffer
This is not like a sore leg or sore where you can see the pain and animals are very good at hiding their pain
I just can not stand to see her suffer, she has been a wonderful dog
Thanks

11 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhy are we willing to accept tainted foods and goods that are killing us?
Come on North America, we are the people, why are we accepting such abuse from the free trade world and governments.
Have we not lost enough of our love ones, afraid to eat everything from lettuce, chicken, or drink our water
.
Afraid to allow our kids to play with lead filled toys (plastics and paints)
Haven't our water ways been depleted enough with ships dumping illegal oils and debri, fished our seas empty for the rich, and then sell our products back to us at prices we can't afford. And what about the lakes and rivers we used to be able to swim in, not important enough I guess.
What about the groceries that are rotten inside from the long trips to our countries unripe, frozen and then found to be rotten when we get them home.
Deplete our forests to sell to other countries and then again sell the lumber back to us at outrages prices.
Why can't we go back to buying products grown in our own countries, support our farmers, families and have the money to buy the things grown in our oun backyards.
We are the people and the money is not going into our pockets, why are we waiting, we can see how this has been working for us so far, how much more do we need to take before we take action.
I live in the richest area of the best soil which used to produce the best crops, but now I can't go to the groceries store to buy them. Our farmers can't afford to grow them anymore as the government won't support our farmers.
I am tired of buying clothes that last us a few days and then need to be thrown out as the material is not made to last.
Where did our rights go as a free consumers?
I guess it has gone with our paycheques that used to come from our jobs which are now in the 2nd and 3rd worlds which pays pennies for their labour.
Yes this is a new world, congradulation, I hope you feel very proud of what you have done.
Great jobs all you CEOs and government official, I guess this is not a concern of yours, you can have planes ship you the best, get the best medical treatment and vacation in luxury while we try to figure out whether we can afford the gas to earn a few dollars to buy the groceries that is making us sick.
Perhaps you could drop a few cans of goods into our food banks, some toys into the local boxes to help make a childs Christmas this year, help collect some coats for the kids who must go cold this winter, and if you have a heart, maybe you could arrange for our kids to get the school supplies to dream of jobs that are no longer here.
By the way, don't worry about my dogs who have died due to the poisonous plastics that your accepted into our countries as dog food, they died in our arms because we couldn't afford the vet bills.
Enjoy the money that you will never be able to spend as I am sure you feel powerful, perhaps you can buy a spot on Mars, I am sure you will enjoy the view of what used to be earth!
And as for us left behind, are we going to sit by and watch this play out any futher? or have we had enough?
Are we going to use our last breath to speak out and say no more!, or are we going to use it to complain to each other?
I for one am so tired of the greed that comes with money
We used to be considered middle class, with two incomes, now we are a now am just another one those who lost our home because we couln't afford the mortage.
3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoIs it fair to treat people badly if they look good?
God given good looks and genes - does it help or hinder?
all my life I have been blessed with good looks and a raquel welch body and I have had nothing but hatred from females - they either make my life very difficult at work or in social settings - I was born this way and I do little to appear attractive to others - however now at 60 I am still treated like the enemy by other women - this is not a brag session as I feel very insolated and lonely except by the men - which is not a place in my life I want to be - dressing up or down does not seem to matter - nor am I stuck on myself - far from it
in all sincerity I ask women out there - why do we hate good looking women - how do you get pass the looks and get to know the person - do you judge a person on their looks only?
I have been faithfully married for 28 years - love my husband - I am honest and work very hard to get ahead
I have notice this is not just my problem but is with most of the attractive females around - they are the most gossiped about - ignored - the the cruel brunt of mean rumours...
please - no insults
thanks
