Sending Puppies To New Homes!!!!! What Do You Send?
It is almost time for the girls to leave the "nest" and I am busy preparing for all they need to take with them.
What so you send with puppies...besides the obvious AKC Reg Application, and health paperwork. What else do you send??????
Good Lord...if they need basic breed information NOW, I would NOT be selling them a puppy!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Newf is smarter than me too, so don't feel bad!!!
Of course the buyers have been screened!!!!!! And I would NEVER NEVER NEVER ship a puppy.
Just looking for any new and neat ideas. I have all the usualy stuuf ready, but since there are only two, I might be able to add more "extras".

After interviewing the puppy owners and a home visit
I send a puppy kit containing
a 8 lbs bag of puppy food
all vet records with the phone number
a folder with puppy tips from crate training, house breaking, how to introduce the new puppy to older dogs.
a dog crate
2-3 toys
a collar
a leash
all my contact info
list of training places in their area
list of message boards or groups they can join to meet other breed owners.
*When a puppy is shipped I send all of that in a package 3 days before the flight so they have it all when they get their puppy but I most sell locally so I can do the home visits.
I also send out a post card at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years just to let them know I am here if they need me for anything should it be a question or should a problem a rise and they misplaced my contact information.

My husband says diapers, bottles and a pacifier:)
Perhaps some of the food they ate, some of their toys, a blanket, a few of the treats they like, a collar, maybe a leash.
My dog was given to us by a breeder as a going away present when she was four months old. These are the things I remember them giving us. Perhaps give them info on potty training. You have no idea how many idiots think a puppy should be potty trained in a day or so...wait, you come on here, so yes, you do have a great idea.
And spay/neuter contracts.
Edit: Could maybe send coupons for dog food, or whatever from Petco or Petsmart.

The dangers are that the puppy's are too young to be away from their mother. They depend a lot on the mothers milk which gives them so many nutritional qualities as well as it contains what puppies need to build a proper and strong immune system. I would highly suggest that puppy formula and a bottle are used for around 4 more weeks to ensure that the puppies get all of the nutrition that they need. It can be bought at Petsmart or any other chain pet store. It's important for the puppy.

I make copies of the OFA certificate and other health test passed by the parents, a pedigree, small bag of puppy food, usually the 8#. A business card with all my information so they can call me anytime. A brochure for a local obedience club hoping they'll take a puppy class.

i have seen one that goes like this:
- food and water bowls
- leads and collars
- a week supply of food
- favorite toys
- blanket
- and life time support
however in my mind i would like to buy some stuff for my dog to make it mine and more personally such as i would like to buy their bedding, leads, collars, food and water bowls,
with my puppy i got:
- a week supply of food << which is good because a puppy should be on the food they were on for at least a week
- her favorite toy << so she didn't miss her home too much and had something comforting
- i also got the worming tablets she was currently on.
- and i got i flea treatment
and of course lifetime support if i needed it, a guarantee that they would take back the puppy/dog if ever i needed them too, they had two huskies so any questions if i hit a tight spot being a first time owner << like huskies dont eat a lot and i got worried and called them up, told them the amount i was giving her and they said that is fine and perfectly normal.
other than that i think they should be prepared and have water and food bowls already.

A one week supply of puppy kibble.
