Give me a drama series recommendation, please...?

I'm bored. I'm caught up on all of the programs that I watch, and they are about to enter the winter hiatus. I'd love recommendations of programs to watch until the shows come back in January. They can either be current or on DVD, but they must be dramas, no comedy or *shudder* reality.

My favorite shows at the moment are...

Lost

Battlestar Galactica

Burn Notice

The Mentalist

NCIS

Supernatural

Bones

I also already watch...

Chuck

Cold Case

Eleventh Hour

Fringe

Grey's Anatomy (although it is nowhere near as good as seasons 1 & 2)

Heroes (although, again, not as good now as it was)

Without a Trace (although, again, not as good as the first three seasons)

Legend of the Seeker (such a guilty pleasure!)

Shows from the past that I've liked...

La Femme Nikita (not so much Alias, though)

Angel (not so much Buffy, though)

Gilmore Girls

The Pretender

I do not like...

Prison Break (the first season was good, though, so similar things are fine)

CSI & CSI Miami (the former for the Grissom/Sara thing, the latter for Horatio)

Private Practice (wow, they butchered the character of Addison!)

Criminal Minds (too misogynistic)

I know it is a tough question, as I've already seen so much, but if anyone would be willing to give some great shows and a brief reason why you like them, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Update:

Sorry. Forgot to mention that I also already watch House (although apparently I don't love it, as I forgot to mention it!)

I know, I know, there is basically nothing left. Hence why I am desperate! :)

    Drama with action:

24 - 6 seasons of awesome. Jack Bauer is my hero. They just put out a 2 hour show leading up to the 7th season, which should be killer, as they skipped a year in the show due to the writer's strike last year. It should have given them plenty of time to write a masterful script. Also, Kiefer Sutherland is amazing.

Numb3rs - Show about FBI cases, the lead agent, Don consults his brother, a mathematician who teaches at Cal-Sci, as well as his colleagues. Pretty intense on occasion. This is less of a drama, as a detective show, but it has its moments. The season finales are always fantastic.

The Unit - A lesser known show, but fantastic. Its about a covert unit in the army, who's cover is a logistical unit on a base where the unit men and their wives live.

Smallville - A show about how superman became superman. It started to decline, but the 8th season is shaping up to bring back the former glory.

    Dramas that double as comedies:

House - In my opinion, the best show on TV. House is an amazing character. The show is fantastic in all seasons. Its about a diagnostician and his team who solve strange cases that no one else can solve.

Friends - Oldie but a goodie.

How I Met Your Mother - This show has an emphasis on the comedy, rather than the drama, but ultimately the show is about the romantic past of the main character, Ted, who is telling a very long story to his children in the year 2030. Every episode is a flashback of part of the story of how Ted met their mother. It has its gooey dramatic moments every couple of episodes and the jokes are kind of corny, but definitely hysterical.

    Just Plain Dramas:

Greek - A show on ABC Family about the Greek life at the fictional University of Cyprus Rhodes University. Focuses on two siblings, Casey and Rusty Cartwright, one a high ranking official in a top sorority on campus, the other a pledge in a fraternity known for goofing off and causing trouble. It has its funny moments, but is mostly a drama about the pressures of college life, an inside look at the Greek system, and the romantic relationships of Casey and Rusty.

One Tree Hill - One of my favorite shows next to House. Its about Lucas, Nathan, Haley, Peyton, and Brooke, and all the **** that happens to them as they all aim for greatness in the world, coming from a small town in North Carolina by the name of Tree Hill. So much goes on in such a small town. Very dramatic. Very gooey. You'd love it. The writing is very poetic. As a girl, you should eat it up.

Wildfire - About a troubled young girl who just left juvenile detention named Kris, who's only love is for horses. She gets a second chance when the Ritter family offers her a job on their ranch as she aspires to be a professional jockey.

The Tudors - A drama about King Henry the VIII of England and the struggles we went through in his quest to have a boy and take on the Catholic church when they didn't give him what they wanted. Not entirely historically accurate, but fantastic writing, and magnificent acting by the entire cast. Very realistic in most aspects.

Weeds - Another one of those best shows on TV. Drama about Nancy Botwin, mother of two sons, recent widower, who has no marketable skills and turns to dealing to maintain her household. Nancy is a force to be reckoned with and has high aspirations.

Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip - Only lasted for one season, but was wildly entertaining in my opinion. The ratings couldn't get it renewed. The show is about a writer, and a producer who are hired to turn the show around a few years of declining ratings. If they can't boost the ratings, the show can be cancelled, so they hire the two main characters and appoint a new vice president for the network to turn things around.

Entourage - A look into the life of a fictional actor, Vincent Chase, who hires his best friend, Eric to be his manager, gets the best character in all of TV, Ari Gold, as his agent, his brother, and friend Turtle. The show is produced by Mark Wahlberg and its absolutely fantastic. My only problem is that the episodes are only half an hour and there aren't enough episodes in a season. Every season leaves me wanting more. It's about the struggles an actor faces when moving out to LA to start a career and all the different red tape that's involved in the movie industry.

That should be plenty to get you through to the spring season! Good luck finding something you can't wait to see every week. I'm always looking for new shows too. :)

Well, I recommend watching er. It's a really great show, packed with TONS of drama. I know this is it's last season, but I'm sure they have previous episodes out on dvd. If not, there are places where you can download the torrents for the episodes.

I also recommend third watch. Both er and third watch are created from the same people and in my personal opinion, third watch is a really great show. It's about police officers, paramedics, and firefighters all working together. It has a lot of drama. It has sadly been canceled, but they do have episodes that are on dvd, and online to watch.

    I hope I helped!

Source(s): My personal opinion. you can download torrents at isohunt.com some episodes of third watch are on www.youtube.com

    Homeland!!

Take a look at the first three episodes, it is absolutely amazing! I watched the first two seasons in four days, it is that great :) It is about Nicholas Brody, an american soldier, who's been in captivity (in Iraq, I think) as a prisoner of war. He's been found and is coming back to his family in the States. FBI agent, Carrie Mathison, has been told that an American prisoner of wart has been turned, and the series centers around the question: "Is Brody a terrorist or not?"

It has mystery: is he a terrorist?

and there is this great, yet mysterious chemistry between Brody and Carrie, which you just can't see where's heading.

    1) Moonlight. Only 1 Season but it was good while it lasted.

    2) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. ( Takes place after the movie Terminator 2, so you have to forget all you saw in T3 cuz it's an alternate timeline altogether) Halfway in Season 2.

    3) In Plain Sight. (1st season ended a few months back. Talks for 2nd Season in the works)

    4) True Blood ( Saw the ad in comics but I can't get to watch it cuz my bit comet doesn't wanna download for some strange reason. It's some Vampire drama with the slogan, "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor.")

Ya' gotta' see "Dexter" (HBO but CBS runs in 6 months later. 1st season is out on DVD)

Dexter is a forensic expert in blood patterns who works with the Miami Police Department. He is also a serial killer, who kills people that the police can't bring to justice. He has to hide his double life from his sister, his girlfriend and his co-workers.
