Can the RROD on Xbox 360's happen to anyone?
Under what conditions does the Red Ring Of Death happen? Is it completely spontaneous or are there common things that cause it like over use of the system or high temperatures? If I don't use it that much (I'm not like a hardcore gamer) can it just as easily happen to me? Any other info on how to prevent it (if possible) would be great.

The RROD on the Xbox 360 happens when there is a hardware problem or it overheats. It also depends on the model of the 360. If you have an older one that doesn't have the HDMI input, your more likely to get RROD, if you have a newer version then you are less likely of getting RROD. If you really want to be safe, and cost affective just put a computer, or rack space fan behind it and leave the fan on all the time. That was a problem with the USB coolers. They turned off with the Xbox and they trapped the heat inside.

Most blame it on the Xbox 360's GPU which in most RROD possible 360s was 90nm.
However Microsoft released the falcon version (it wouldn't be listed on the box) which supposedly reduced (but not entirely removed) the RROD possibility.
Now though they have the jasper version which uses 65nm which is hoped by most to finally eliminate the RROD.
Generally though RRODs are caused by internal overheating. So using it in a a/c'ed room would probably help reduce the RROD possibility.

Stay away from used box's especially if built before 2007. The boards fried something like 60/100 that year.
Prevention, Elite is better quality inside. Don't let it get hot or dirty. Fans and good placement. Be careful with it too.
