Also why does Coach of the year always go to head coaches?
The award is for the coach he brought his players to perform amazingly. Dick LeBeau (hope that's right) for the Steelers has always had that defense playing with grit and heart. This year he has coached that defense into something truly amazing.
Why is he not Coach of the year? It is never called Head Coach of The year.
I think this league is just messing up these awards with being small minded.
Jack J I am Raider fan. I like the Steelers but it is pretty obvious that they are playing way better than any other team in the league

Because there are seperate awards for assistant coaches. Also, while the actual short version name of the award isn't called the "head coach" award, the description of the award explains the spirit of which the award is being given.

U are being very BIAS towards your team the steelers. Ur a diehard fan and i like that but u have to give credit to the rest of the league.
If this is the case then how come u wont argue that the Defensive coach for the Giants wouldn't get it last year or even this year. Im a Skins fan and i hate the Giants but they have great coaching.
With the rule changes that u want im glad u dont have Roger Goodells job. LOL we know every award would go to the Steelers.
They have place kicking coaches???? For what?? I could understand if they had a trainner or someone to hold the ball but i never knew they had kicker coaches. How much do they get paid?? LOL i still dont believe it. Special teams coach sounds more like it

Well most people dont look at the defensive and offensive coordinator as coaches. If they do good enough eventually they will become a head coach.

I think the Detroit Lions place kicking coach has gone unnoticed for a lot of years, Jason Hansen has not done it all on his own!!!
