Do you ever go outdoors just to enjoy being outdoors?

Sometimes I wonder if all the people who don't want us to spend time thinking about the health of our environment ever even go out and enjoy it and do they just not appreciate what that means to others?

I totally agree. I love being outdoors and camping for days at a time. Living off this beautiful land that mother earth provides is the most exhilarating feeling one can have. We are all grounded by gravity to the earth and therefore are all connected and one whole entity. It's such a beautiful thing and those who miss the wonder and realness of this are missing out on the meaning of life. I just hope they don't ruin it for the rest of us and our children.

    As much as possible.

My friends assume I'm staying in some 5 star hotel when I "head up north" because I always come back so revitalised and relaxed.

Little do they know we (Dad and I) are actually sleeping under a tarp in the rainforest picking leeches off our feet and drinking from a dirty creek. The thing is, even the dirt is clean when it's been untouched by man. It's so liberating not having to worry about having money, looking perfect, pleasing your boss, doing your homework... all those fake values of the "real world".

All the time. I always feel there is something mystical and magical about the forest. There is nothing I adore more than the forests and the mountains. I think should be ordinances across the board that every city has to have parks and green belts. All buildings and houses should have broadleafed deciduous trees, too.

Of course - just this weekend I hiked Monument Mountain in Great Barrington, with my daughter. And we'll do a hike a week until we have to decide whether to rent snowshoes or not. And we biked all summer, including mountain biking.

I love nature, love the environment, and I don't litter and I try to conserve energy, though that's mostly because I'm cheap.

I just think that the alarmists go too far, especially with respect to "global warming."

Being outdoors gives me time and space with no distractions to sort out ideas. I also use the time to watch wildlife, but if I see nothing, I am not upset.

I feel sorry for those who think their neighborhood park is the outdoors.

There's nothing like exploring the national forests in my Jeep, or fishing in a cold stream. The babbling is so zen like.

Clearly the more time you spend with nature, the more it's apparent the nature can take care of herself.
