Coeliac Disease - potentail diagnosis?

I am due to have a blood test to determine if I have coeliac disease. I understand it is genetic - yet no-one in my family has it, or has had it - is it usual for 1 person to develop it and others in a family not to. The likelihood was picked up via a routine blood test.

It is estimated that about 40% of the population has the mutation for gluten intolerance. Celiac seems to need to be triggered by something else, no one is quite sure yet.

So yes, it could possibly be that everyone in your family carries the gene, but you could be the only person who has triggered into full blown celiac.

It is also possible that other people have it, but they are not experiencing many or any symptoms (my sis only had a slight dairy issue as her only symptom and she was positive).

go here for more information on this:

Be sure to consume lots of gluten before the test as the antibodies must be present in your body to have an accurate blood test. It is also possible that your anemia or low vitamin levels are due to something else.I would wait to worry about anything until after your blood work though. If you do come back positive, all your first degree family members will need to be tested. Kudos to your doctor for catching the possibility in your blood work!

Nice dream but let's be real...that's never going to happen. There are other ways to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. And you seem to be suggesting that only "true" Christians wait until marriage - people of other religions do as well, you know.
