Are all people labeled "Baby Boomers" really Baby Boomers?
Ok I don't know who decides what a generation is, Boomers are said to be born between the years 1946-64 18 years and yet Generation X is 1965-78 13 years. I feel there is actually a generation in between, see not that exclusively Woodstock defines that generation, many of us weren't old enough to go see Woodstock let alone be drafted to go to Vietnam. Many of my friends my age believe we belong to a generation from 1956-66 I call the Pepsi Generation, in our prime we are Post Vietnam Pre Alternative Rock, we lived in the Bicentennial, Disco, Led-Zeppelin, Southern Rock era. I feel our definition is halfway between Boomers and X. anyone else agree with me? Have you talked to older boomers and see that our conversations are different?
Well that is the thing too, people my age that I know had limited the birth rate to 2 to 3 children unlike the 4 to 6 like my older siblings had. so I still see a big difference there as well.

Generation labels such as "Baby Boomers" and "Generation X" are pretty vague and generalized descriptions of some of the trends we lived through. They certainly cannot describe any of us individually. Sure, you could probably identify dozens of other trend-based generation lables in the same period from 1946 to today.
Trends continually change. Societal influences over a period of several years are quite different even for people born a year or two apart and even for people born at the same time but in different places.

I see your point but I think the term baby boomers is more useful in describing the increased birth rate at that time period. It just kind of refers to the large generation that will create a large part of the dependency group in North America.

I agree with you I feel that there's more to it. I was born in '91 but my mom says I should have been born way earlier. She thinks somewhere right dab in the middle of generation 'Baby Boomer' and 'Generation X'. I have to agree with that, but alias I am a 90's girl.
But really Ithink it's a state of mind and how you want to act that makes you put yourself in whatever generation category you want.
