I heard about this weapon somewhere, but I don't know what it is. Any pictures or history would be helpful.

I believe you mean the Steyr AUG (Armee Universal Gewehr) Assault Rifle. It has a unique appearance and weight distribution which you could probably tell just by eyeballing it. It's large stock helps control the weapon a great deal.
It can be fitted with a variety of barrels from that of a submachine gun length to an HBAR. Fires both the NATO and American 5.56mm rounds. It does not have a selector for firing modes but rather has a pressure sensitive trigger (squeeze all the way for full auto). It is a weapon of the Austrian Army and is also used by: Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Tunisia and Oman.

Its a combat rifle used by Austrian, Australian, and US Customs.
Many different variants of the weapon, like add ons(scopes, lights, lasers)
Gas Operated SMG.
