You know over the years in boxing I always wondered what if these two fighters did not balloon in weight fought at these weights in their primes what would be the outcome?

At Middleweight both Byrd and Patterson would have been superstars. Obviously moving up in weight for Byrd effected his power, and 60lbs is an immense amount of weight to compensate for. Byrd or Patterson's power would have been much more destructive at 160 than it was at 200 plus, and in truth Patterson as good power at heavyweight. Floyd would have been that much more effective at the lower weights. I think it would have been a significant improvement in both fighters effectiveness to drop down to the lower weights.

I don't know about Chris Byrd. I think he was as good as he could be as a heavyweight. Floyd Patterson would have been the same at any weight. As long as you didn't hit him, he was ok. The problem with Patterson is that he couldn't take a punch. So any hard hitter at any weight would have eventually knocked him out. The best thing about Patterson was that he was a genuinely good man.
