Messenger 9 for Vista users and XP users with 9, Mess 9 has many unsolved problems and missing features that messenger 8 has. Plus now the updated Windows Firewall will not let Messenger download correctly. And is causing 9 and 8.1 users to have problems now.. The only option that might help is going to the control panel and turning off the firewall to download and install then turning it back on.Then click on windows fire wall, Exceptions tab. make sure messenger is checked,if not listed then add it to the list.then click save.
.If the fire wall still causes problems, then revert back to 8.0 or 7.5 these and all versions of messenger can be found here; http://www.freecreed.com/ymsgr-archive.html
You need to remove version 9,or present version, 1st to get another version to work. To remove Messenger version Use Unwise located middle of page of Messenger Folder.. Your contacts are stored online But if you want to save your old messages archives, they are saved on your PC in the messenger file you are about to delete.Go here and copy them to a new folder

If you don't install the 9.0 messenger correctly, it will not work (NOT ASSUMING YOU ARE TRYING TO INSTALL THAT VERSION, but most people with the same problem as you, are trying to Install the 9.0 version.
It has to be,,,Run as the Administrator.
I think if you Right click on the downloaded file after you download it, you will be able to Run as Administrator. If that is all too confusing you can,,,
Do this,,,,
Click on Start Button/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs.
DUMP anything that says Yahoo Messenger (toolbar, address book etc etc etc) they will be listed at the bottom of that window if there are any), and go to this website,,,,,
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=...
type in Yahoo Messenger (at the bottom of the page in the Google search bar, make sure the dot is in the www.oldversion.com option, hit Search click on the first link under the Web results (it will take you to the Older Version site, scroll down and you can see where you can pick which one YOU want). I PERSONALLY suggest 7.0.
BE SAFE

PS. No, you will NOT lose any Contacts from a previous version you ran, they are all saved on Yahoos Sever and will transfer to whatever version you install.

I don't think your computer has spyware. The problem is with a software issue. Trying running this program. I use it on my computer and run it a lest once a week. http://www.ccleaner.com/ Click on registry and then on Scan For Issues. Once its done click on Fix Selected Issues. The problem is with files not being able to be read.
