What is your prediction for the Western Conference standings?
Here is mine:
1. Lakers -- So far none of the other teams have posed a challenge to them. Lakes are deep and can afford to give key players rests, which will help them to maintain their efforts as the season goes on.
2. Hornets -- despite their struggles, I do see them making a push later on and be the team they are capable of being.
3. Blazers -- This might be a bit high, but this team is full of potential, and Oden isn't even 100% yet.
4. Nuggets -- another surprising team this year, they are playing really well, and Billups is definitely proving to everyone that he is still of the best PGs in the NBA.
5. Jazz -- they are very deep, and they get better as more of their stars return from injuries. But West is too competitive to stay ahead of everyone with injuries.
6. Rockets -- T-mac out for 3 weeks, more pressure on Yao to carry the team. They struggled lately against sup-par teams as well.
7. Spurs -- injuries did slow them down, but they are coming back, and Spurs always play their best late in the season, but I don't think that's going to be enough to push them up to a 4th seed. Either way they are experienced enough to win on the road in playoff.
8. Suns -- If they don't figure out what system of offense they are going to run, Mavs can very well take this 8th seed from them.
I think Jazz, Rockets, and Spurs are better than the Blazers and Denver at full strength. But overcoming injuries in the West is alot tougher than the East, since teams are so evenly matched, 3 games means a 2nd seed to a 8th seed.

1. Lakers- they have the most talent and are a huge set of talents
2. Hornets- CP3 is the best PG in the league and will manage this team to a #2 seed.
3. Jazz - Once Deron and Boozer get going, they willl be very hard to beat.
4. Rockets- if healthy, they are an elite squad with 3 all-stars.
5. Spurs - I still think they are an elite team that will work it's way to the top 5 of the West
6. Blazers - loads of young talent...pre-season prjected starters equaled a microscopic 14 yeard of total NBA time...but they are impressing
7. Mavericks - My hometown team; not being biased.,..I honestly think we can be at #7..it's been a weird fall, but other teams are very improved
8. Suns - Suns and Njuggets will battle, but I think the Nuggest fall short with a record over .500

1. Lakers--no explanation needed
2. Hornets--they will get it together
3. Nuggets--who new Chauncey would make such a difference?
4. Rockets--they know how to beat teams they should beat and compete against better teams
5. Spurs--watch out. They're getting healthy
6. Mavericks--looking like they could make a hell of a run (maybe even a 1st round upset)
7. Blazers--they will cool off and fade again, but they WILL make the Playoffs this time.
8.Suns--they make the Playoffs, but they don't do much once they get there. Too much confusion and inconsistency on this team.

I think the Jazz will post a better record than the Nuggets and probably the Blazers too. But I agree with your 8 playoff teams. The only possible change is the Mavs could knock out the Suns, but I'd still put my money on the Suns.

I really can't stand the Lakers, but I think they have a pretty good chance, unfortunatley.
Hopefully Cavaliers can pull through for the Eastern Conference!!
