I'm out. This site has become an embarassment. People don't want real answers. They just want someone to agree with them. People don't read your whole question or give it any real thought before they answer. To top it all off, the "Top Answerer" Mamba cherry-picks questions close to a deadline that he knows will go to a vote and then uses multiple accounts to vote himself BA. To think that he gives better answers than Nickster is a joke. Now I'm done.

  • What is the term for an antagonist who is not totally unlikable because he/she has been driven to seek revenge?

I know the term antihero is for a protagonist who has certain unethical tendencies because he/she believes the "end justifies the means" or because certain experiences have driven him/her to cross certain lines.

  • Is Charles Barkley the best?

Is he the best player who played well into the 90s yet never made double-digit million$ per season? Basketball Reference has his best paid year being the 1999-2000 season--in which he was paid $ 9 mil.

  • Props to James Johnson, or should he have known better?

James Johnson of the Chicago Bulls got a rare look at a LeBron James dunk recently. I say rare because most guys just get out of LeBron's way by now. Do you respect Johnson for hanging in there, or do you think he should have done what at least 250 other guys in the League would have done and ducked away?

  • Do NBA players who skipped college age faster?

Meaning do their bodies break down sooner? What about one-and-doners? Than guys who play at least two years in college?

ESPNs Chris Broussard seems to think so, and he makes a pretty good argument:

The second post contains the article, and there's a discussion that follows.

NBA.com ranks D-Wade's posterization of Sideshow Bob as #2, just behind Amare demoralizing Tolliver. What do you all think?

  • How long has it been since this last happened in the NBA?

The Bulls won. They’re in the Playoffs. They were the last seed to clinch, and they’re record is even at 41-41. That is the first time in a LONG time all 16 Playoff teams have a .500+ record. When was the last time it happened?

  • Final question about NBA end-of-the-year Awards?

I say “final” because there seemed to be very little interest in any discussion about the awards I’ve asked about recently past the MVP debate. I personally think several of these awards are the toughest to call this season than any other in recent memory and that there is a lot of healthy debate to be had about who deserves them and why. Here are a few of the questions I have going into the final week of the season:

    1. Does Jamal Crawford have the 6th Man Award locked up, or does Udonis Haslem deserve some serious consideration?

    2. Should the Most Improved Award go to Rajon Rondo or Aaron Brooks or has Andray Blatche done enough since the Trade Deadline to warrant giving it to him?

    3. Looking at the résumés of Evans, Jennings, and Curry, should the voters make them 1st ever 3-way Co-Rookie of the Year winners?

    4. Is anybody but Dwight Howard in even in the discussion for the Defensive Player Award?

  • Who's your Rookie of the Year?

We all know it's a 3-horse race, and I don't think you could be upset if any of the three won the thing, but give me your ranking of the three candidates and a reason for your #1.

    Here's mine:

    1. Tyreke Evans - 20-5-5 as a rookie is just too special. He loses his edge a little because the Kings fell so far from Playoff contention starting around January (around the time they brought back Martin to shop him), but how many veterans are averaging 20-5-5 right now? The ONLY other guys I'm sure have it besides Evans are Kobe and LeBron. Look it up. Wade, Roy, and Joe Johnson all come up a little short. What the kid is doing as a rookie is phenomenal.

    2. Brandon Jennings - lifting a team from the Lotto to the Playoffs is really significant.

    3. Steph Curry - his play has improved the most over the course of the season.

This one's a tough call. Cast your votes. I'll post the winner in a few days. To vote for COY, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aojp_...

  • Would this be asking for too much?

If the Raptors can win 3 of their final 4 games OR the Bulls can win 4 of their final 5, the entire Playoff field will consist of teams with records of .500 or better for the first time in FOREVER! Do you think it will happen, or is it just wishful thinking?

I asked a similar question at the beginning of the season. Here's what the community had to say then: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am8wc...

  • NBA Coach of the Year Poll?

Rank your top 5 candidates for COY. You only need to justify the guy who gets your 1st Place vote. I’ll tally all the votes (from complete ballots only) and declare the “official” Y! Basketball Section Coach of the Year after three days.

    Here’s mine:

    1. Scott Brooks – took over the reins of a team that relocated under shady circumstances on an interim basis last season. Honestly, the Thunder were virtually an expansion team last season, and they’re in the Playoffs! We knew they’d be better and possibly contend for a Playoff spot, but they’re status was cemented weeks ago and they look like they’ll be a tough out/possible 1st Round upset candidate.

    2. Scott Skiles

    3. Nate McMillan

    4. Rick Adelman

    5. Alvin Gentry

  • Basketball Section NBA MVP Poll?

    Who's your MVP?

Rank your top five, in order from 1-5. You only need to give a justification for your #1 guy. Each player will get points for how you rank him (i.e. 5 points for a 1st Place vote, 4 points for 2nd Place, 3 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th, and 1 point for 5th). I'll tally all the votes after 3 days and crown the "official" Y! Basketball NBA MVP for 09-10! Example:

    1. Kevin Durant: unbelievable streaks of 20 and 30 point games. Has a young team that was supposed to only battle for the 8th Seed looking like a team that can advance to the 2nd Round and perhaps beyond. Take him off that team, and they don't win 25 games. Best story in the NBA this season.

    2. LeBron

    3. Dwight Howard

    4. Kobe

    5. Dirk

So after the preaher's vote, that's 5 points for Durant, 4 points for LeBron, 3 points for Dwight Howard, 2 points for Kobe, and 1 point for Dirk.

  • Is Coach Callipari slow-playing his hand?

He keeps saying that they're such a young team, and that they haven't been in certain situations, and that they haven't proven anything yet. I bought into it at first, but now I think he's being a pretty good psychologist. He doesn't need his team to get the bighead, and maybe outsiders will keep thinking that they're inexperience is too much of a disadvantage all the way to the NCAA Title! Not a Big Blue fan--just an observation. In fact, I hope they don't because I have K-State knocking off Kentucky in the Final. Thoughts?

  • Who is the most underappreciated player on your NBA team?

I'm talking about from local and national media, fans, and casual observers. Example: I'm a Heat fan, and my guy is Jermaine O'Neal. My Heat are a far more successful team when he scores at least 16 points in a game, but he is often considered as an unimportant player or a guy who is washed up. • Do you think Omar Samhan of St. Mary's is right?

The post player of the upset proven and minded St. Mary's team recently told Brian Kenny of ESPN that the lower seeds are doing so well against the higher seeds this year because the effect of the One-and-Doners and guys who leave after two years is finally settling in. He contends that the St. Mary's, the Cornell's, and the Northern Iowa's of the world have a substantial number of 23+ year old grown men who have been playing college ball for 4 or 5 years against younger (albeit more talented) 18 and 19 year old kids who are looking forward to their NBA payday sooner rather than later. Do you agree? Do you think the uber-success of Mid-Major schools in the Tournament continues after this year?
