Final question about NBA end-of-the-year Awards?

I say “final” because there seemed to be very little interest in any discussion about the awards I’ve asked about recently past the MVP debate. I personally think several of these awards are the toughest to call this season than any other in recent memory and that there is a lot of healthy debate to be had about who deserves them and why. Here are a few of the questions I have going into the final week of the season:

1. Does Jamal Crawford have the 6th Man Award locked up, or does Udonis Haslem deserve some serious consideration?

2. Should the Most Improved Award go to Rajon Rondo or Aaron Brooks or has Andray Blatche done enough since the Trade Deadline to warrant giving it to him?

3. Looking at the résumés of Evans, Jennings, and Curry, should the voters make them 1st ever 3-way Co-Rookie of the Year winners?

4. Is anybody but Dwight Howard in even in the discussion for the Defensive Player Award?

Update:

Ben Gordon? Seriously?

1.Udonis Haslem? He has been steping up in the last games, but I don't think he should be in consideration for the 6th man award, nice try though, lol. I say Jamal Crawford has it, with Ginobli and Jason Terry close behind.

2.Forget about Blatch he is a disgrace to the NBA, after that thing with Flip Saunders, I would say Kevin Durant should get it, like I said before he is moving up really fast, but Aaron Brooks is also close behind him he might get it, I don't know about Rondo, never heard about him for this award.

3.You really want this to happen, ha ha, well they are playing awesome basketball right now, but what about Collison, how about a 4-way co-rookie of the year award? I thin Evans should get it, he has the better rookie year this season.

4.I would say Lebron James or Josh Smith, but I have Dwight Howard winning the DPY.

    1. I think Jamal Crawford almost has 6th Man of the Year locked up. I actually think Jason Terry from the Mavericks would be the only other player with serious consideration.

    2. I think Aaron Brooks is the Most Improved Player. I don't think Rondo and Blatche are being seriously considered. Joakim Noah from the Bulls should be considered for it though.

    3. No. I think Tyreke Evans is the best rookie this year. Even though Curry is better, I think Jennings will come in 2nd for Rookie of the Year though, because he's the only one on a playoff team.

    4. I think LeBron James is definitley in the discussion. I think Dwight Howard is the better defender, but that LeBron will win it, because the voters want to give the award to someone who isn't a big man.

    1. Jamal Crawford does have that award locked up, but if anyone else does deserve consideration, it should be Anderson Varejao.

    2. Andray Blatche has done enough statistically, but they didn't win enough games. If the Wizards could have won around 30 games, he would be in serious consideration.

    3. No. Tyreke Evans is having a historical year, but I think if anything, he should share it with Brandon Jennings. More emphasis is placed on rookie stats than winning, evidence being Larry Bird winning over Magic the year he led the Lakers to the title. Curry is great too, but a three way tie between two guys going on vacation Thursday and one guy who is the 3rd rated rookie, but the only one in the playoffs is too much. Just give it to Tyreke.

    4. I think that Josh Smith is in the discusssion but not seriously. The fact that D12 can lead the the league in rebounding and blocks two straight years is appalling. He is one of the most physically gifted players in the leagues history, but he should not be leading the league in blocks with a 2.5 bpg average. The emphasis on defense in the NBA is lacking. He will go down as one of the best defenders in league history because nobody else wants to block out and block shots. He will probably win like 6 Defensive Player of the Year awards. What happened to the days of block shot leaders averaging 3 plus blocks a game?

    1. Is Ben Gordon for the pistons starting, if not then him, yes Jason Terry is having a great season too.

    2. Rajon Rondo is my boy. He is awesome, to me, best PG in the NBA now. Between him and Kevin Durant.

    3. It will be Evans, even though I want it to be Steph, BJ has no chance.

    4. Dwight will win, but Josh Smith should be in talks too with LBJ.

*5*. I added this number. MVP should be LBJ! lol
