Here is just a short list of movies I can think of off the top of my head.

My name is Molly, and I'm going on my 15th year of being a Horror Movie Addict.

NOTE: Some of these…ahem, most of these…aren’t suitable for the children.

When a Stranger Calls (“Have you checked the children?”)

A teenage babysitter is terrorized in a very large house by an unknown caller.

The Happening (M. Night at his finest)

    Mark Walberg, Zooey DeChanel

The eastern seaboard is attacked by a mysterious chemical, which makes the affected suicidal.

The Devil’s Rejects (creepiest clown award)

Rob Zombie brings us a homicidal clown, and a brother-sister kill squad.

    The Shining (Jack Nicholson version)

    Jack Nicholson

A family is invited to keep watch over a spooky hotel, and demons begin to mess with daddy’s mind.

Psycho (I prefer Vince Vaughn version)

    Vince Vaughn

A woman seeking shelter at the Bates Motel finds the manager to be a bit bipolar.

The Exorcist (quite an evil film)

    Linda Blair

The Devil takes hold over an innocent child, transforming her into a demon.

Halloween (setting the stage for slashers)

    Jamie Lee Curtis

Michael Myers returns to his hometown each Halloween to kill off a few more teens.

Nightmare on Elm Street (he just won't die...)

    Robert Englund

Freddy is back from Hell and ready to invade some nightmares.

Friday the 13th (he just won't die either...)

Jason returns from the dead to take revenge on selfish camp counselors.

Freddy vs. Jason (will they ever die?!)

The two aforementioned killers face off to see who can claim more victims.

30 Days of Night (hands-down best vampire movie)

In Barrow, AK, the town residents must face off against a month of darkness, bringing with it a pack of bloodthirsty immortals.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (enter: chainsaw-wielding maniac)

    Jessica Biel

Vacationing teens find themselves in the middle of nowhere, and ask the wrong family of cannibals for directions.

    28 Days Later (amazing zombies)

A man wakes up to find that the entire world is nothing but restless zombies.

    I am Legend (introducing: bat-zombie)

    Will Smith

Will Smith, finds that the cure for cancer has some not-so-pleasant side effects.

Resident Evil (yes, it's better than the games)

    Charlize Theron

The T-virus turns a woman into a superhuman, zombie-fighting machine.

Dawn of the Dead (are you sure you'd hide in a shopping mall?)

A massive zombie outbreak forces a group of strangers to survive within a deserted mall.

Quarantine (rabies…it’s not just for raccoons anymore)

    Jennifer Carpenter

A reporter follows firemen into an apartment building, only to be sealed off by the CDC, as it is home to a vicious infection.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (best possession)

    Jennifer Carpenter, Laura Linney

A young girl is possessed by demons, and a priest is faced with charges of homicide.

    Cloverfield (best monster scene)

While attending a goodbye party, a group of friends run for their lives from giant monster.

    Signs (aliens aren't nice)

A family notices strange crop circles in their cornfields, leading to an alien invasion.

Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind (aliens ARE nice)

After an alien encounter, a man struggles to reconnect with the out-of-towners.

    Pet Semetary (“It’s me, Fluffy!”)

An ancient burial ground brings the dead back to life, although slightly altered.

It (or, the reason clowns are scary)

A group of childhood friends reconnect to fight the evil clown that destroyed their lives.

Carrie (or, why you don’t tease the quiet kids)

    Sissy Spacek

A ridiculed student with otherworldly powers seeks revenge on Prom Night.

The Mist (this film will leave you speechless)

Shoppers in a grocery store must survive a thick mist, bringing with it creatures from an alternate universe.

    Re-Cycle (Cantonese, with English subtitles)

A woman writer is trapped in her own mind, a world of the abandoned (and angry) souls.

    Invasion (in an emotionless world…)

    Nicole Kidman

A woman and her son are up against a world of emotionless masses that want them to “change”.

The Ring (now TV's are evil)

    Naomi Watts

An investigator must solve the secret of the videotape that kills whoever watches it.

Saw (yeah, I saved the best for last)

    Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith

A cancer patient, “Jigsaw”, creates traps for unappreciative people, to see how much blood they’ll shed to stay alive.
