What is a good book about the history of Barcelona and/or Spain?
I'm taking a trip there for the first time in the spring and am interested in some enjoyable reading material to give me some context.

Iberia, by Michener, is still considered a good read, if a bit dated.
You might find the DK Eyewitness books helpful, either the Barcelona one, or the whole of Spain...They aren't cheap, but they are beautiful guide books, and very helpful, with a bunch of history in them. Really well put together.

"Spain A History" edited by Raymond Carr. From Prehistoric times to 21st Century in only 300 pages. Great book.
