How do I convince him I need money or a gift card for Christmas?
Okay so I have a friend. He's an older guy that's known my family forever and me since I was born. He's given me rather expensive presents over the years but the gifts have been a little odd (tool set when I was 13, or a paintball gun at 17). But this year he's asked what I wanted. I don't want anything specific except clothes and jewelry. I enjoy shopping. Well he only wants to give me something as long as it isn't money or gift cards (says it's impersonal). What do I do? I don't want him buying me the clothes cause I know he's never liked my style and would end up getting me something HE would like me to wear.

Tell him that you enjoy shopping and that a gift card or money would be the best gift he could get you. You could also tell him that you could go shopping together and spend the day together. If he still refuses then tell him you would like jewelry.
