Whats so exciting about workplace gossip? Do you gossip at work?

I view such workplaces as I would view a small town. Both are very much like a pond: the water is still and stagnant. I don't care much for a vast ocean, in which names and faces are lost, but a stream or a river is rather refreshing, wouldn't you say?

Yes, I agree with you, there are many places of work with less than desirable work dynamics. I have found that the more females working together within an environment where the work is repetitive, the more cattiness festers amongst co-workers (generally of the same sex). If one chooses to stay out of the work place "gossip", then one is ostracised for not having created solid alliances with certain people. You'll be seen as "the loose canon".

Find a job that suits your personality and how much interaction you want with co-workers and their personal opinions.

I stay so busy at work I don't have time to get involved with that crap. When someone tells me about something- that is usually after the fact- they're surprised that I didn't know any thing about it and ask how I didn't know and i tell them because I do my job.

I work at a hospital and yeah it's a freakin soap opera, Grey's Anantomy all over!!!

I work with all females.... so there is always gossiping, although I try not to take part.
