Which would be better? for a hardcore gamer?

If you're a hardcore gamer, you shouldn't be buying a console. Consoles are for casual gamers.

umm ps3 and xbox have similar game selection now, especially with shooter games. most of the good games are available on both systems now. some that I can think of that would be action oriented would be like call of duty, assassins creed, gta IV, saints row, rainbow six and then I would say that console specific games are pretty much balanced out. GOW and halo on xbox and like resistance2, metal gear solid4, etc. although looking at ps3's game selection the majority of their games would prob be more action/shooter oriented for the hard cores. to many to list but just go look at the shelf at best buy.

so I would say buy the system that you like better and don't base it on the game selection because they both have good selection. I would also disagree that the ps3 is just a glorified blue ray play since it is actually more powerful and with better graphics than the 360.

I would say that the only advantage the 360 has is that more people have it since it has been out longer and microsoft really pushed it from the beginning. so if you have a lot of friends that have a 360 and want to play online then the xbox will be more fun but if you are more into graphics and extra features then the ps3 would be more fun

Price wise you can pick up xbox 360 games from big box store for ten dollars. I even got Mass Effect, Lego Star Wars Enchanted Arms and Kingdom Under fire for just Over Forty Buck. If you Pick up the cheaper core/arcade system for $200 there is an offer on the 360 home page for a free 20gb hard drive. Just make sure you get a "jasper" version with HDMI to avoid the red ring of death and other problems that i used to make me recommend PS3 instead. Finally, give the Wii a good look. FPS and bloody games don't usually come out till the end of the product life cycle. Just like the Game Cube got all the good Resident Evils, Metal Gears, and such in the very last two years.

Xbox 360 hands down. Halo 3 is the best fps shooter created and PS3 doesn't have any action games that are significantly good. Resistance 2 is the only one on PS3 i can think of. So I would go with the Xbox because it has Halo 3 and bothe have most other games like Fallout 3

XBox has the games. While I have a PS3, it's just a glorified Blu-Ray player. Go XBox for gaming. (Netflix on XBox Live is awesome too)

XBox definitely. Almost everything comes out on xbox over ps3, which is limited.

clearly go with the xbox 360. i have one and i can say that they have the best games and the best online experience.
