can we take aciclovir as a profilactic when we suspect ourself infected with virus of chickenpox or herps ?

I saw little blisters (still painless) on the back of my child when my another child had just recovered from chicken pox. without getting it confirmed that it is chicken pox, will it be beneficial to start him giving acyclovir ?

Acyclovir is more of a preventive measure and not a cure. Taking acyclovir at this stage will just lessen the symptoms produced so that if your child really has chicken pox, it won't be that severe. But if for several days, nothing happens, then stop taking the acyclovir.

I remember having to take penicillin as a child for chicken pox. Please ask your doctor what you should give your child as acyclovir may not be safe for young children.
