BCS Co Champions: Is it possible?

If Florida dominates Oklahoma, and Texas obliterates Ohio State, could they share the National Championship? Really, I don't care if you want it or don't want it to happen, I just want to know if you think it is plausible

No its not possible. The BCS added a 5th bowl called the BCS championship game for this very reason. And before it wasn't really possible either. Prior to the 5th BCS bowl game being added there was one national championship and one trophy. The team that hoists that trophy at the end of the game is the national champion. The BCS is an imperfect system and will remain an imperfect system until they scrap and use a 16 team playoff.

It's impossible, what has happened before is a split national championship when the BCS champion was LSU and the AP champion was USC. But it's impossible to have a co-champion unless the two teams that played in the title game actually tied, which is also impossible because of college football OT rules. In college football in overtime the teams keep playing until someone wins, by rule a college football game can go into an infinite number of OT periods if the game remains tied.

It is not possible to have BCS Co-champions. It can not happen because the human voters are obligate to declare the Championship Game winner the #1 team. However, it is possible that the AP poll could put Texas or USC as number one and then we'd have the AP champion and BCS champion as different teams.

no they did away with that when usc shared the title a few years ago. The winner of the BCS championship game is the national champion there is no more polls for the first and second place.

It's possible. I thnk if Florida barely beats OU and Texas destroys Ohio State they might go with Texas for the championship or maybe co-champions.

no i don't think it's plausible. the bcs determined that oklahoma is better than texas, and if florida dominates, while texas ( a lesser team) beats up ohio state (not their conference champion) then florida would almost certainly be champs.

    bcs is a joke.

if a few teams finish with 1 loss, they're all pretty much champs in my eyes. claiming that florida and ou are the only ones worthy of winning it is a JOKE. no usc, penn st, utah, texas, etc, etc. title?

    joke.
