Does a GPS navigational system have any type of "memory" that can be used like computer forensics?

Most car GPS systems have a memory that stores the most recently used destinations, start points and sometimes even route. The will also store their last known location since that helps speed up startup times.
So it would be possible to find out where someone had been if they used their GPS to get them there.
