Swelling badly the day after?

I just had my little boy sunday morning at 3:22.

I didn't have any swelling all day yesterday or today.

I went home around 2 this afternoon and have been running around putting things away and haven't really sat down for more than an hour.

I feel fine other than my back is a little sore, but when i went to take a shower i noticed how very very swollen my legs and feet are.

is this because i am being too active?

Should i be worried? and should I call my doctor?

Yes, it could be caused by all that activity... Wow, you are a power house by the way! Sit down, put your feet up - Hold the baby and rock a little. Enjoy the calm beginning - It's great bonding time. Take a nice long bath, just relax. And congratulations! I hope everything went fantastic for the birth!

It's probably a sign that you've been too active but it's also common for post partum, even a day or two later. The swelling should be going down a little more each day. If ever it doesn't look smaller than it did the day before or you aren't peeing or something just feels off, it never hurts to call your OB and make sure things are still on the right track.

Glad your feeling good! Take time to rest, though! Congrats!

Did you have an IV the the hospital? If so it's probably the extra fluid from it. don't worry about all the other things at home just sit put your feet up and enjoy the baby. I had swelling after all my babies if it doesn't get any better in a day or two I would just call the doctor to see what they say.

You need to rest. Don't worry about your stuff that you need to do right now do it after your feeling a bit better. Relax in a nice hot bath. To answer your question it is because you are too active you shouldn't be worried unless you relax for a day and they either get more swollen or else they don't go down. I wouldn't call the doctor until after a day.

    Congrats by the way.

  • I had a little swelling the day I got home which we later discovered (thanks to my husband's big mouth at the doctor's ;) ) that I had indeed been too active. Sit down, put your feet up...bond with baby...keep yourself hydrated......let daddy, grandma, aunts..whoever do the brunt of the work. Remeber..you've had 9 months of people being nice and helping you with everything and anything....it's about to come to an end so take advantage of the help while you can!!

You can call your Doctor if that will make you feel comfortable. But....you need to sit down and relax with your baby. After having a baby you're not suppose to be up and moving around it will also make you bleed longer. So just try relaxing, I know it's hard being a new Mommy but...you have plenty of time to learn to be multi-task "TRUST ME!

i was swollen severely for 2 weeks. i almost couldnt walk. Elevate your legs and feet and drink lots of water. it will take a while but your body will flush it out.
