What are you doing to prepare for the impending Depression.?

There are so many layoffs and workplaces shutting down.

The news is full of warnings that we are in a recession headed towards a Depression, some are now saying we are in a depression.

Are you planting gardens, fruit/nut trees, taking any training, moving to remote locations, purchasing survival books, etc.

Tell me if you are single, married, have kids, own a home, rent.

What will happen if you loose your job, can you survive and for how long.

Are you retired and worried about your retirement?

I am starting to be concerned our world is about to "change" for the worse. What are your thoughts?

As a college student, I'm continuing to get as much education as I possibly can, and I'm starting to stick a little in investment accounts to prepare financially. I'm also doing my best to eliminate debt!

I'm also learning to eat things that I can grow from a garden, that I can cook for myself. Eating out really eats into your budget! Learn to do things that will save you money, like planning out a food menu, and buying things that require modest amounts of preparation, instead of food that is ready made.

I'm also making use of the local library as much as I can instead of buying books from Amazon! I learn a LOT by reading up!

I'm also getting involved in inexpensive hobbies that are useful, like keeping a small garden, and learning to build things that I can use around the house, like shelving, and storage containers.

We are at below 7%. Depression is above 20%. We will not get that bad, but we WILL probably get to 10-11% before it gets better.

SAVE SAVE SAVE even though it brings the economy down in the short term with less spending, it's prudent for ALL to do this. Plant a garden if you can, or shop LOCALLY as much as possible and support your neighbors.

It is and will be bad, but it's the end of the world. It's just a very difficult time. I wouldn't move to remote locations, that's just silly.

SAHARA: I also got an MBA during the last big recession (91). It will be rough--get what you can and keep an eye open for when the appropriate jobs open up. Do some volunteer work if useful (like helping with marketing for a non-profit or being on a board of a small NP) to keep your hand in. Good luck

I know it. We have cut back on Christmas shopping. We are working on getting our debt down as much as we can as fast as we can. I am continuing doing the things that I have been doing for quite some time now to save money wherever I can. I am contemplating buying my husband the itouch he wants. I would just buy it but he's going to buy me stuff. He won't not do that. I'm trying to figure out how bad it's going to get and if we can really afford this purchase. Things are good right now with work but how long will it continue, how long can it continue? I don't know.

You are not alone. Many of us are wondering and trying to be responsible. It's not like we were all that strong anyway. I just finished my MBA. I wonder for what it's worth if it was the right decision. I'm now paying off student loans. I'm not making more money. Right now I'm worse off. That's pathetic. I worked really hard and sacrificed a lot. When is enough enough? When do I get to enjoy my hard work and just relax a little? It's not like I want a lot. I don't.

I journey my motorcycle on the city, do not use the automobile except I even could. we are married and characteristic one son and a dogs and our homestead. sure, i'm in touch for our retirement- i do not comprehend if the plan we've paid into considering the fact that starting up artwork will live on (Canada Pension) so sure, we do placed selection money away in yet another position. i imagine issues would worsen yet i imagine that folk would get extra positive by way of it. a lot less materialistic and extra being concerned- fairly those whose lives are outfitted on credit.

I am stocking up on food, particularly canned food. I no longer live in a place where I can grow vegetables and fruit.

Convert all your assets to gold. Money and inflation rates change, gold never does. all it does is go up.

I am getting ready with my cup to stand in soup lines and then I will be involved in any new deal program that comes along. I am also considering selling my children.
