World of Warcraft expansion packs question?
I want to start playing WOW but I'm not sure what I need to buy to start playing. How many expansions are there, and do I need to get them? Thank you in advance.

well if you want to play it all the way to lvl 80 then you would need to buy all 3 games. the original, the Burning Crusade, and Wrath of the Lich King.
you can not just buy the latest version and play all 3. You will have to get all 3 in order to play up to lvl 80. if you just want to get to 60 then just get the original. if you just want to get to 70 then get the Original and the Burning Crusade.

You can get started with a free 10 day trial. The link below will let you create an account and download the game. Trial accounts are limited in some features, like Auction House trading, but you should still be able to play enough of the game to decide if you want to buy it or not.
If you like it, you'll have to buy the game itself. There are two expansions as well, Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. They have to be bought and installed seperately, and in order. They're not necessary to play, but they both add content to the game, like new races and classes. I have seen package deals where you can buy the original WoW and the first expansion in one package, and get a couple of game guides as well, and save money on top of that.
If you have a friend who's already playing, see if they're interested in the "invite a friend' promotion. They send you an invitation, then when you sign up they can get free playing time and other goodies.

There are two expansions to the original World of Warcraft, at this time. The Burning Crusade is the first expansion & Wrath of the Lich King is the second.
You will have to buy the original game World of Warcraft and install it. After that, you will have to buy The Burning Crusade, install it. And then you have to buy WotLK, and install that.
After spending the day installing the games and numerous patches to update them, you should be able to play.
WoW has a monthly fee required to play, different plans can vary the monthly fee price, but generally $15 bucks a month...
Oh you should get the first month free with the original WoW.
Good Luck! ...and prepare to have you life force sucked out by the continuous addictive game that is WoW. Lulz, but seriously, It is a fun game. -.-

There are two the burning crusade and the wrath of the lich king. U can buy the start pack which now includes burnin crusade ( not sure if original works alone ) Wrath of the lich king is very cool but can't relly be appreciated til lv 55 when u can make a death knight and then 68 when u go to northend. Burnin crusade gives u extra races and some new territory reacheable on day one

There's World of Warcraft, then Burning Crusade, and the newest expansion Wrath of the Lich King. I'm pretty sure you can just buy the latest expansion and it'll install everything on your computer. You're better off getting the game on DVD disc that way you only have to install that one and not 3 or 4 CD ROMs.

Hehe, I asked this question a few days ago! :D
There are a total of two expansions right at this moment and you don't need either of them to get started but they are nice to have around as one (burning crusade) allows you to choose between two more little races.
If you want more information on them my questions are open to the public and I got a lot of really good answers about both expansions.
Good luck ;)

World of Warcraft (the first on)-$20
World of Wacraft The Burning Crusade-$20
World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lick King-$40
If you want to play world of warcraft all you have to get is the 1st one but if you want to get a Blood Elf or a Dranei and be able to get to lvl 70 then you need to get TBC and the 1st one but if you want WotLK then you have to get world of warcraft the first one TBC and WotLK!
P.S. you need $15 a month for subscription but its really worth it!!
Happy Gaming!!

this is rumored that the subsequent advance would be "The Emerald Dream". yet seeing because of the fact the 5th gateway into the Emerald Dream is located in Northrend, the different 4 being located in Duskwood (Twilight Grove), Feralas (Dream Bough), The Hinterlands (Seradane) and Ashenvale (Bough Shadow), it may look greater logical to launch a Northrend X--percentfirst. lower back it incredibly is incredibly in basic terms consistent with internet chatter and bits of conversations i seize between gamers mutually as i'm interior the interest.
